Yeah, I'll be leaving rims on her... I just must have had 5 or 6 people suggest mags... Always been a 'rims' kinda guy

Never was a fan of Tuffs
They make the bike weigh twice as much and dont stop as well as metal rims
Before freestyle it was all about making your bike the lightest you could make it, for jumping or racing, When i first tried tuffs, they were only on my bike for 10 mins before i removed them, could not belive how heavy they made my bike
My bike was stolen in 1989, I got lucky and recoverd it myself a year later the first thing i did was remove the tuffs they put on it and threw them away, now i wish i kept them since so many people like them for some unknow reason to me
PS Sweet Quad

I've never had the chance to ride a quadangle - are they heavy? Either way that is a seriously cool build. Congrats on a job well done!
And keep the rims on it.

Grats, looks great. Two gripes, front cable should be ran behind fork tube, and those washers to space out your front peg is not a good idea, too much leverage on too little thread, better to get a thinner axle peg, or maybe a solid aluminum one and either grind it down or take to a machine shop and have them clearance it for you.
WTB Forklifter freestyle bars, no internal rust, perfect ends.
WTB Peregrine Super Pros, not pitted.
WTB Kuwahara freestyle stem engraved.

yup. I am having one helluva time dialing the rear brakes... i've given up at this point. they are still mushy...stop well, but the lever is mushy
Did you lube the cable, F & R? It will help tremendously.

Re: 85 Quad Freestyle finally finished after 9+ months!!!
1. Yes, it is very light. Not sure of the exact weight though.
2. yup, realized I ran the cable on the outside of the fork after I had her all together. I will def re-route the front brake cable.
3. the washers were a last minute thing... I wanted the bike fully together for the Philly BBQ/SHow/ride... and I was frustrated taht all the sets of bolt on pegs I have were not clearning... taht was the best I could do last minute. I am actually in the process of grinding down a set of KHE pegs. Most of the non-threaded pegs have a tough time clearing those drop outs on the standing gear forks... didn't think I'd have that big of an issue. Good eye catching the washers too... ![]()
4. I did not lube the cables... think that'll help the mushyness of the rear brakes?
5. thanks for the kid words everyone!!!

ps: tholse 14mm axles are like a mile long, with the spacers and the peg, i still had like 15 threads to work with... long a$$ axles...

Re: 85 Quad Freestyle finally finished after 9+ months!!!
lubing the cables always help F/R brakes work better.
EDIT: of course looking again at your setup, the rotor's not helping the brake snappy feel, for sure.

Yeah, I had limited threads to work with on the forks... Didn't seem like there were enough. Maybe downside to 85 frame and 84 forks??? Wanted to run gyro... Didn't have enough threads to work with... Pissed me off!!!

thatnks for suggesting the most expensive of the 3 builds... especially if I'm keeping them exactly as they were in the mid 80's... my Franken-invasion tour weapon will be a pricey build... hell, the F/F, woody bars, hutch seat post and profile cranks will set me back tremendously, lol. but i want to, lol
