1986 Dyno Compe - my original childhood bike, stolen & recovered... All restoration performed by myself except the decals... Restored to how it was equipped before it was stolen in early `87.

Breakdown: * Restored original f/f. 3 stage laquer paint (base, blue & 3 coats of clear, then hand buffed)

* Custom made decals in the original light blue

* Restored Dyno stamped drain pipe, Dyno pretzel bars, GT sprocket & Oddyssey brakes & Gyro painted white laquer then cleared.

* NOS 1st gen white gyro cables, tuff pads, white/blue mushrooms, ACS True 100 tires, GT Epoch headset

* Unrestored OGK Performer Mags, `86 Dyno seat

* Jerzey Devil dicecaps

Where it all began... Stolen from me and stripped, painted and left as a f/f . I tracked it down and threw on some parts to make it complete. 25 years later, it came out of the garage to await a well deserved resto...

While in the process of gathering the parts to begin restoring my 86' Compe and while searching for the correct decals, I noticed that nobody had the ones like mine, NOS or repro. My bike was stolen from me bitd and was spraybombed over the og paint and decals. I removed as much as I could to have something to go off of to have duplicates of the originals made.

Very nice work man. That is 80% my bike from BITD. It gives me goose bumps!
It seems the forks are a little bent backwards, it makes the front tire look a bit too close to the down tube.

Thanks guys! I checked the forks when I stripped them, they are straight. Maybe the angle of the pix? Maybe like the GT's, there are different head tube angles?

Just noticed something different. The cable guide is welded at the bottom of the top tube.
So far all the ones I have seen have it welded to the side, including mine. That's pretty unique.

I remembering seing your og post a while back. Ever since then your decals have been on my mind. I never saw those either, I wonder why yours were different? Did the European market have different dyno stickers? I know they had different decals for the EU GT bikes, maybe yours was a EU sticker set that made its way to the USA. Im surprised no one really knows.

Good eye! That was one of the first ways that I recognized my frame when I found it. It sucked putting a gyro on it bitd... I used electrical tape back then to hold the cables.... lol.

Outstanding build. Those OGK's....did you clean those up or were they already in good shape? They look brand spankin' new. I voted for this in the buildoff. very similar build to the one i submitted in the "all dynos" category. Admittedly, yours is way better.

Thank you! I bought them in that condition. I didn't clean them at all... They are by far one of the nicest sets I have ever seen...

Voting is going to be hard... Soooooo many nice builds, it's tough to only pick one... Good luck man

This is an impressive rebuild and not to mention so cool to be able to ride your actual childhood bike as you first rode it. especially after it was stolen and ruined.
It's heartwarming

Thanks man! Your VFR is over the top... And it was cool to ride it but dammm is it short compared to my Master or Trickstyler! White tires suck to clean too

Yeah, unfortunately it's a trimoly frame. I probably sunk more into the redo than the bike is worth!
