Re: Special Needs, Special Children
It feels so good to help people out, and today I met this most humbling young man(James). I met James through a local church administrator. By the name of Penny Burgess. She contacted me yesterday about finding a bike for a single mom with a son who had no bike. Due to the short notice I was able to pull a Next brand bike. I broke it down and cleaned up the stock bike. It need only a rear brake setup, and rust removal.
In short time this bike looked like it was on a showroom floor. So I loaded it up, and got on my way. When i first met James, and his mom accompanied by his mom. I could see him seriously checking the bike out. After I inquired if this bike would soot his style, and gave options for upgrades, and other models. He jump on the bike and took it for a quick cruise in the church parking lot. When he returned he had the biggest smile on his face I had ever received from a kid this year.
He told me and his mom this was the bike for him.... I couldn't stop smiling, and my stomach had butter flies. Success! another donors ride receives a home, and another kid will create a summer of memories. ![]()

Oh...and Trevon, a special needs kid from Chicago came out this weekend to help the program, and he help a lot with this one.(the little guy next to me!)
Enjoy the Summer James....

Re: Special Needs, Special Children
To everyone that has supported, sponsored, volunteered, or befriended the Special Needs Special Children bike program. I would like to proudly announce that the program is expanding to the Wisconsin area. Jim Gesselle the owner of JG Bikes in Walworth, Wisconsin will be taking on administrative duties. To service the Milwaukee, Racine, Rockford, and great Wisconsin area. We will be turning over full authority for Jim and JG Bikes to to use the Special Needs Special Children branding, and Access.
We will be working in tandem to reach more children to help effect more communities, and to Bring a greater awareness to children with special needs. Our efforts to make sure that all children no matter the economic status will also be one of our main focus points as well. Hoping to introduce more children into the hobby/sport of biking. So with out further ado I would like to introduce to you Jim Gesselle our very first SNSC Administrator.

Re: Special Needs, Special Children
Facts About Jim:
Jim comes from a family of BMX racers, he is a skilled bike mechanic, and is married with a daughter. Jim has experience racing, doing flatland, and is no stranger to sponsoring others. As he sponsored his brother to the Nationals in his younger days. Jim has been reaching out to the program, and his first contribution was a $70 donation that helped to to buy supplies, and pay part of the rent for storage fees. Jim has recently revived his former BMX group(JG BIKES) to help promote BMX in his local community, and to help the SNSC program have a foundation in the Wisconsin area. I'm sure you will be seeing more of Jim in the future.
Welcome to the family Jim!

Re: Special Needs, Special Children
Great Story: during our bike give away last week. A kid(Zack) asked the principal if he could submit an entry for his younger brother(Josh) to receive a bike. I thought this was very noble, and when we gave bikes to all the other children. I told Zack that I would give Josh a very special bike. Well today I did...I gave Josh my bike. I got it for a Christmas gift, and birthday present a couple of years ago(thanks Hector), and made a deal with my friend Caleb that I would donate it. So here is to friendship, brotherhood, and BMX

Re: Special Needs, Special Children
Qual one of the most patient kids I have ever met. Waited until I got over being ill, dealing with personal issues, and countless delays to build his bike. But he never let on to being frustrated or even disappointed. He would just smile and say OK! Well today Qual got his bike, and he said it was fast(quick) and his mom was on hand to see him take off on it in complete glee. Thanks to everyone who pitched in to give me a hand with this lengthy build( Floyd-Bike Connection, Daniel, and the many folks that donated the parts to build a complete bike.
