Re: cleveland ohio old school bike show! advice needed...
Can we pick a date(this year please lol) and location and just have an impromptu meet?
It doesn't have to be a crazy event, it just needs to be a starting point.
Okay here's an idea, my wife and I just drove down to Peninsula, Ohio with our mb's and took the "Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail". It was about a 10 mile ride roundtrip and it was a really nice area. There's plenty of parking for everyone and it's a well maintained area.
Looking at the map, we can start from the parking lot area located next to Szalay's Farm Market (http://szalaysfarm.com/index.html) @ 4563 Riverview Road Peninsula, OH 44264 and we can ride to either the Winking Lizard Tavern @ 1615 Main St. Peninsula, OH 44264 or we can go to a non-franchise place and stop at Fisher's Cafe and Pub @ 1607 Main Street (St. Rt. 303) • Peninsula, Ohio.
Either place we go, it will be about a 4 mile ride each way. So we meet, hang out and shoot the shit and ride to get some food/drinks.

Here are the site for Winking Lizard and Fisher's Cafe and Pub.
http://www.winkinglizard.com/
http://www.fisherscafe.com/section0/home.html
If we do decide to do this, I can call ahead and make reservations and maybe see they have a group discount. I can also make some shirts for the people riding.
This is just something to get the idea rollin. No this is not my thread but I do want to help.![]()

Re: cleveland ohio old school bike show! advice needed...
Guys. just pick a time and place and show up, everything else will fall into place. Our rides are a mix of old and new school, 20 and cruiser, as long as its reliable. Our last ride was about 10-15 miles and included a little session at a hidden skatepark and a beer/lunch brake. We had two new guys out for the first time and now they're even more enthusiastic about the next ride.
Here's a dark night shot of our bikes parked at the bar in Charlotte from our August night ride:

Okay Ill go ahead and get this going;
What: Ohio Meet and Ride
When: Saturday, October 13, 2012
Time: 11AM
Meet Location:
Szalay's Farm Marlet @ Ohio Towpath Trail
4563 Riverview Road, Peninsula, OH 44264
(The parking area is 50ft from Szalay's Farm off of Bolanz Rd.)
The ride will be a roundtrip(8-10 miles) and a midway stop at an eatery for a lunch.
We can decide now or decide then, if we want to eat at The Winking Lizard Tavern or Firsher's Cafe and Pub.
All BMX/FS bikes welcomed!!!
I already have two other people, my two brothers, who are definitely down to ride. I may have another 2-3 guys coming down and please pass the word. If this date doesn't work, the 14 is also available.
Can we get this going???

Re: cleveland ohio old school bike show! advice needed...
I think this is a great idea. One thing I do want to point out though is that the towpath is mostly fine gravel/screening. Everytime I ride my mountain bike there it is caked with dust. Anyone bringing a fresh resto or show bike may have some serious cleaning to do. The only thing I ever really worry about is my chain. Other than that, all my rides are "riders" and meant to get dirty. Just figured I'd throw this out there for those who may not know the terrain.
Please let me know if I owe you feedback. Seriously, PM me with a reminder.

Just south of Cleveland, convenient to several major highways.
