Looking like this is going to be fun I might end up renting a van if my wagon won't hold them all

One note i would like to add is to bring bike STANDS please!!! The festivities start at 9am so get here nice and early for a good spot. Shine up those bikes that you want to show off. We will be starting the judging at 1pm and ask that all bikes in that category be moved to the 'voting' area. This will be a good time to take some candid shots and also check out your competition! After the first category is judged, we will award the top bike and move onto the next one, so please be ready, have your bike(s) spit shined and blingin!!!!!

All thoughts on how the judging will happen is subject to change....but I promise this won't be like last year when the judges were scrambling around row after row...writing notes down...going back to a few bikes...scratching their heads and etc. It will be easier on everyone if the bikes are ready and in one location to judge them.

Hey Jon, according to G's post, a bike's points will be taken off for over polishing (the Old School).
According to him is what is being judged. Is that true?

Here is my take/opinion on G's comment.....with my anal retentiveness on keeping things the way they were (yes, i know, people polished stuff, painted stuff and customized stuff), and its between a bike that has over polished, re chromed, powdered and etc parts vs. a bike that was built with all OG finish stuff with no 'over blinging'....that will be discussed and the bike that the judges think is more deserving of the award will win.

That is why G has decided on many different categories to accommodate every type of builder and bike that will be there.

please don't flame me...its my opinion, thats all.

in the end...its still a kids bike and the award is a # plate....no cash prizes, no 10 foot trophy.

Like i said, everyone bring their A game bikes if you want to be competitive...which really isnt the reason for this gathering.

Plain and simple.............. I've always wanted this show NOT to be about who spent the most for exotic parts, Gold Plated, or over chromed or over polished Old School bikes and parts....I dont want this to turn into another event where people spend a lot of $ to "build" a bike for the show w the mentioned stuff, then part it out just cause they did the build just for the show. OR for a bike someone has built as a keeper to win based on how over the top the parts etc are.
It's a fun show, and I know some people will bitch no matter what, but like last year, we judged the bikes fairly for what they were, and some high dollar builds didnt happen to win since there were bikes that appealed more to us for being simple but nice. But then again, 1979's Cruiser was "blingy" and super polished and customized in a way that it was hard not to vote for it. My own Robinson new school 24" has a bunch of polished parts, but they were all parts that were damaged and scratched up, so I striped and polished them, so there will be some leeway if a OS bike has a couple of polished up parts.
I'm just making a statement to guys who take very nice condition Old School parts, then "Show Polish or Show Chrome" them (example is some very nice Silver OG finish Tuff Neck stems that I've seen people mirror polish on the site) and destroy the OG finish when they could have taken a well used part instead.
Bottom line is............no one including us the Judges has any clue what will win until we see all of the bikes and discuss them. I have asked some of the best at restoring (C4 Labs) to join the Judging Staff, so that alone should tell you that I am trying to be fair to all...the purists, the survivors, the refinished, the riders, the high budget and no budget builders etc.

PS_ If you are bringing multiple Bikes...PLEASE bring locks and cables since we are in the City and it is a open area!!!!

Prizes are rolling in........first off: Justin from Porkchop BMX sent us Red/White/Blue packages: sets of 24" Comp III style tires, pr's of the New Dia-Compe MX1000's & Levers, Dia-Compe Hinged Clamp and Porkchop Snow Flake Sprockets

I'm doing my part and working hard to get Prizes and more for everyone, so PLEASE make sure to hit up the Food thread and volunteer some time and food to the cause. Also, chime in on the BBQ Thread re your shirt sizes since the order is going in asap!! I will have some extras the days of the events, but knowing the sizes needed will help

I'll be posting more Prize photos tonight and over the Weekend, so keep checking back on the thread!

I know some of you guys are rushing to get bikes built, so if you plan on riding them on Sunday.....PLEASE ride them for a 1/2 hr BEFORE then to work out all the bugs
