Re: ★Huffy Pro Thunder Builds! Pro Thunder Questions! Post them...★

i just got a 13/16 post from porkchop delivered today. Its too thin. I tried a 22.2 post and it didn`t fit. I tried removing the seat clamp and opening up the seat tube w/ a stem and still no luck. Any ideas ? ....sad

Re: ★Huffy Pro Thunder Builds! Pro Thunder Questions! Post them...★

Either fit a shim - I got one with an Elina seatpost / saddle which can be used.  Alternatively try and get hold of an original MK2 Raleigh Burner seat post which is between a 13/16 and 22.2mm.  You have to make sure it's an original Raleigh one though as most people who sell Burner seat posts will tell you 22.2mm fit, and they don't - they are too big!

Best bet probably would be to fit a shim to the 13/16, unless you are going to ride it hard it should be fine - in any case the frame will probably break before the shim big_smile

Probably going to do a Moose tribute.  Not sure I want to spend the money on the powder, but black should work with any color combo.  I have a lot of yellow (Tuffs) or gold components to use.  Need to find some bars that go with the theme.

If anyone wants the cranks PM me.

I doubt it is going to clean up very well.  The down tube has been welded.  I am tired of cleaning and polishing.  I want to bolt something together that ia ready to go.  smile

I suppose I can mix up a batch of OA and see if it helps.

OA can do amazing things. But, if there are frame repairs I can see why you'd want to go the powder route. To be honest, putting $$ into that is for pure pleasure, you'll never be able to get it back, or even close. ;-)

That's what I'm gonna try on mine too.  I'm gonna try to keep the chrome eventhough it's not the best.

You are exactly right, whatever I put in it I may as well flush down the toilet.  smile  But seriously I like the way it rides, like an old person who had a bad back 20".  smile

Before I get it powdered I may try and spray it, my brother gave me an old paint gun.

Incase you guys haven't seen it yet, I started a department store bike build off. If you have one you are restoring, enter it! It must be era correct and not finished prior to the start of the contest. Looking for at least 3 cruisers to make a class for them too!
