Opinion wanted on my team master

So I am restoring my 88 Team Master.  I can not afford a real set of Perigrine HP chrome 48s.  I just can't spend 600 for a set of rims.  I got these gold rims with Peregrine hubs off Ebay a little while back.  They are kinda growin on me for the uniqueness and the bling.  So I am trying to figure out if I should go with the gold VP 555 or the silver VP 550.  I like the idea of the gold VP's but they are a little too dark and don't completely match the lighter gold.

Opinions?

This is how the bike started.  I rode the heck out of this thing.  It sat in a shed for about 10 years while I was around the world in the military.  Thankfully my parents did not toss it.

Re: Opinion wanted on my team master

Also I need the correct stickers for the seat post and the bars.  The ones I got from Chip at C4 are not the right type.  They are for the bars if the paint went all the way to the cross bar.  Mine were the lower ones and need the stickers for the point just an inch above the clamp point.  Also the sticker he sent me has a chrome back rather than on clear.  So it would look way out of place.  So much that I would rather not even use it.  I have not contacted Chip about it.  Mainly because I think I should have described it better to him when I was buying it.  So I will just keep them and look for the correct ones.  Its too much bother to return them to him and too much work for him.  He does enough for the community.

Anyone have any lines on those stickers or opinions on the pedals?

Re: Opinion wanted on my team master

Yeah I love my S100.  Its a GREAT camera.  You should see the pictures it takes with no flash in VERY low light.  They are amazing.  In the past I owned an S95 (generation before) it was great too.  I upgraded due to my abuse to the S95, it did not like being dropped from a moving car.  lol hmm  But either the S95 or the S100 are amazing cameras.

My other camera is a Nikon D7000.  Which is an amazing DSLR.  Prices on those are coming down.  But that is still a high priced camera.  Used they are still in the 1K range for the body alone.  If you are wanting a DSLR and you want the best bang for the buck, get a D7000, a 1.8 35mm (low light lens), and a kit lens or 24-200mm if you have the cash (600 lens).

Or if money is no object, get a Cannon 5d Mark III.  My buddy has one and that thing is amazing.  I swear, it sees more in low light than the human eye.  But it costs almost 4K for the body alone and lens for it are 1K+ a piece.  I need one wink

Yeah... I liked the idea of the gold pedals to match the rims.  But they are just too dark.  I might just strip the anadozing off a set of VP555 that I have and use those.  Or if someone knows where i can find a set of chrome 48 rims that look close enough to Peregrines, I would love to get those.  I would just relace the hubs I have to those.

i like the gold wheels with the bike. looks unique. the silver pedals look better in my opinion. you could always get them powdered a lighter gold.

I like the silver better, but I think black ones would contrast and set it off better. My 2 cents

Re: Opinion wanted on my team master

I ended up going with the gold VP555 pedals but I stripped them of their color.  For those who have VP pedals they want to strip, they are NOT anodized, they are painted.  I found out the hard way in the past when I tried to strip them the wrong way.  Use paint stripper and the color comes right off.
