Re: Cranks - GT
GT OverDrive Cranks
GT OverDrive cranks were made by Supercross for GT, Powerlite, and Robinson between 1999 and 2001. They were first available through the GT brand - they came stock (in the 180mm length) on the 1999 and 2000 GT Speed Series Team XL bikes (http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/gt_bicycles/56676). When sold by GT, they were called GT "OverDrive" cranks and were available in 175mm, 180mm, and 185mm lengths. When these cranks were first available in 1999, they were being sold for as much as $379.98 new (see image below). I got this picture from BMX Museum member "Duke 01", who owns a set of NIB (new in box) GT OverDrive cranks.

In 2001, these same cranks (the only difference being the bubble decal) came stock (in the 180mm length) on the 2001 Powerlite P-61 Coqpit bike (http://issuu.com/pharv85/docs/powerlite … geNumber=4). However, when they were sold by Powerlite, they were called Powerlite "DriveShaft" cranks. Additionally, since these cranks were initially so expensive, within a year or two, they were being sold at roughly half of the MSRP. As an example, in late-2000, Dan’s Comp was selling these cranks for $154.99 (see image below).

These cranks featured USA-made tubular 4130 chromoly arms, a heat treated 5-5/8" long 48-spline chromoly spindle, Japanese sealed bearings, and CNCd aluminum bearing cups and washers. Additionally, these cranks may have been made in a 182mm length (Source: April ’99 BMX Plus! mag). And, according to Museum member "Duke 01", these cranks were available in a black chrome finish after 2001. However, when these cranks first came out, they were only available in a chrome-plated finish.

Enjoy

Black Chrome GT Overdrives.
These were on Ebay for sale, I got permission from the seller to use the photos.
Second photo shows a standard chrome bar compared to the black chrome.
