Re: Any One ever buy from cds-movies-videogames

the thing that bugs me the most is that he buys little items that people that build bikes might actually need off ebay or here..... and them lists them for 20x what they are worth at the same place he got them? so when do these items get back into the hands of people that might use them? I'm sure as hell not going to get so desperate for an orange odi mushroom cap that i drop $150 on it. For the most part he hoards garbage and i definitely have a good laugh every time i see one of his listings pop up in my saved searches.lollollollollollollollol

Re: Any One ever buy from cds-movies-videogames

He bought this from me on ebay for $105.99 and is selling it for $599.99:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/230749020381?ss … 1423.l2649

Plus he wants another $40 for the Porkchop brakes that cost like $15.99 new!
And he makes no mention of the ding in the chain stay. I emailed him about it and this is what he said:

"That little defect falls under the 8.5+ on the rating".

Really? yikes

That tells you all you need to know about the guy. I look at his stuff and what it's priced at, and think to myself are people shellin the cash for those parts? Who knows, nothin wrong with buying and selling, but I've seen this guys bogus descriptions on the parts he price gouges, and wonder how his feedback is still decent.

I wonder where he learned his business model. 280 BMX items for sale and only 12  completed listings. There are people who do the same thing here and their items are reposted in beta week after week. There is a reason you got it for $40......because that's what its worth. Just because you want $400 for it doesn't mean anyone is going to pay it.

I'm new here but I have bid against the pos on ebay quite a few times. He won a Reline BB crank and BB sprocket for $20 and relisted every single part seperate. He's asking $125.99 just for the cranks. He's just one of the many ebay leeches trying to scew the common guy and proud of it!

BMXtacy: Hey man I don't give a crap what you sell your schwag for, but your business sense is that of a fool. The bmxmuseum is the driving force in the industry, thousands of members, thousands of transactions worldwide. The market value of old-school bmx merchandise is determined here. The site is referenced constantly on other sites when it comes to price points including your precious ebay. I have yet to see someone reference yourself, but then again I have not looked up d-bag in old webster for a while.
Business 101: Know your product and it's market. You are completely out of touch with both. Your business fails. Unless of course your trust fund (OPM to you, since you are such a savvy businessman) bankrolls your spending and storage because that is clearly the true essence of your so-called business.

You're like that contestant on a reality show that no one can believe actually auditions. Apparently no one has ever paid you the courtesy to spare you serious embarrassment(or you're just unloved) so allow me to do so, you suck at what you claim to do. -Cheers smile

Re: Any One ever buy from cds-movies-videogames

So, I am going against the grain here... Please don't think this is trolling -- I am being as honest as I can be.

I understand that people are ticked about items being sold for more than he bought them at.. I mean... That's the foundation of US economics. Buy low, sell high. It's American business.

Let me start out by saying that I am not about making a buck in this hobby -- at all... I am one of those guys who believe "If it's a survivor, let it survive and don't part it out." (I realize if no one parted stuff out, then I couldn't get parts... So, to each their own on that subject)

I will buy stuff, realize i don't need it, then sell it and take a loss because I know I probably paid too much to begin with. Who cares. I love this hobby.

If he were the only person in the entire world that could sell this stuff, then yeah, call him a DB.  But he's not... If you don't like his prices, just don't look at them. No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to buy his stuff.. or even looking at it.

There are *a lot* of people selling stuff for way more than it's worth.. even on here.  Price is just that -- There is no "price book" for what we buy and sell in BMX... there are just imaginary figures of what we think it's worth, if it doesn't sell, lower it 10% and try again, or roll the wheel and put it back up and try again.

Go to an art gallery. Look at those prices -- they are there for show, just like the pieces they represent, until someone falls in love with the piece then they negotiate. Price is a guideline in this business.

Go to your local bike shop, then go on amazon -- the prices on amazon are half that of your local bike shop. Is your bike shop run by DBs? No. They need to make a living so they can keep the doors open.

If his prices keep his store open, then great... because he only ever has NOS stuff or stuff that has been restored for us already. It's great for when you are in a pinch.

And this "He is destroying the business!!!" posts... really? Honestly, you honestly believe that people charging what you feel is too much is really going to destroy this business/hobby?  Geez.  It's the other way around... Look at what places like Walmart has done to the Local Bike Shops... Focus your anger on places like Walmart.

So, to the original poster, to answer your question:
I have dealt with him.. when I need a part, and he has it, i will send him a message and talk to him. Most of the time i get a large price break on his original price...  I am sure his original price is there to see if he can get lucky, and sometimes he does, but more often than not he doesn't and settles for a more "down to earth" price.

The other night he spent hours with me in email trying to find parts for a bike I have been working on. He's got a bunch of parts that aren't even in his store yet that he went digging through his inventory for. When we finally got a bunch of parts together, I got them for a super respectable price... and no buyer's remorse to boot.

Did he buy them for 1/4 of what he sold them to me for? Probably... who cares? I don't. I have the parts I need, they are NOS, and I feel good about the whole deal. And that, my friends, is what this business/hobby is all about.

To BMXtacy:
If you get insulted by someone, don't respond with an insult... Just chock it up and take the upper road and apologize, even if it's not your fault. Not everyone is going to like what you do and who you are.. and the squeakiest wheels make the most noise. Do your best to defend yourself, but not by playing the insult game.  Customer service is no fun, neither is defending your stores... but, it's part of the business.

Good luck, everyone and respect one another!
-andy.

Idiots like that guy do F-it up for all of us. Every time someone posts a part for a huge mark up.
uninformed people see it, and then assume that a bike or part is rare or special in some way. so they do the same.
I cant even tell you how many times ive been told, one just like it sold for $500 on E bay.. read some CL
ads half the bmx posts mention ebay sales or i know what its worth comments. and guys like him are why it happens.
