I had the same problem. After many attempts at email, PM, and even phone messages I got nothing. I finally contacted a MOD and he got in touch somehow. Finally after a month of no return contact I got a message and then my grips showed up. I was less than impressed with the professionalism to say the least.

I need to address this one-
Orders done through my website are pretty seemless.  When you place an order, I am alerted with an email, then I'm alerted with a second email from PayPal notifying me of payment for that order.
Both emails are printed out, and I send a "thank you" email.  Then a shipping label is generated, and the customer is notified of the tracking number automatically from either UPS, or the post office.
In THIS case- customer saw an old listing here on Museum that I had for grips, and sent a PayPal payment for it.  I had no idea about the payment until I was messaged here about it.  There was no formal "order" placed for it, and I did not get an email from PayPal about it.  If I had, I would have shipped out the grips.

I too have paid for an item only to find out after that it was not in stock. Waited two or three weeks before stock arrived and the item was shipped.

Interesting how many people have rabidly called out Joe at ACEBMX for the same thing noted below.

matrutledg wrote:

A couple of yrs ago I placed an order for 8 maybe 10 items.  Half of them he didn't have in stock.  For several of the items he emailed me and asked, "hey I don't have item x but I have item y, will that work?"  I promptly replied no I can wait for item x.
Well he sent them to me anyway.  I ended up paying for shipping to send the wrong items back and asking for a refund.  He never made things right and I got the impression he really didn't care to try.

There is a difference.  I do STOCK everything that is on my website.  I don't just "list" what I can get, then wait for an order for it to come in so I can then order it.  There are times when I do sell out of an item.  I try my best to keep an eye on inventory levels so I can re-order product when I'm getting low.  BUT, there are times when we do run out of something without me being aware of it.

I have built up Planet BMX greatly over the last 5 years.  I started this business out of my house, and have moved in to larger buildings 3 times already so I can house all of the inventory here.  I'm still a one-man operation 3 days a week, and I have Scott in here twice a week to help with shipping.  As I stated before- shipping out customers orders is the number one priority!  That comes before taking a new order on the phone.  I have a full-time employee starting this summer, but that person will only take care of my books, and other business-related work so I can focus on shop upkeep and orders.
Business certainly has picked up over the years, and I put the money that comes in RIGHT back into inventory.  I have twice as much in inventory now, then this time last year.
Matt- (matrutledg)
I looked up this transaction to re-fresh my memory.
We did a transaction in 2010 for a set of 20" Tuff Wheels, freewheel, headset, FW tool, chain, and MCS gear.  ALL of those items I stock, and still have in stock.  From what I remember, I think we had an issue with the MCS gear being out of stock, and MCS was out too.  It's a rare occurrence, but it happens.
I did send you a $30 refund.  Past that info, I do not remember if there was another issue....

That's right; the freewheel, MCS chainwheel and FW tool were out of stock.  You asked me to settle with a freewheel and chainring that were different colors you did have in stock.  I said I was ok with waiting for them, but you sent me the wrong colors anyway.  You refunded me for the freewheel and chainring only and you were supposed to send me the FW tool but that never happened.
You wasted my money but more importantly my time.
There was just the one issue because you get only one chance to make a first impression...

Apology accepted Ed.  I appreciate you doing that, (done in a PM).  Thanks for the care package that's on its way, that really wasn't necessary.  Next time I need stuff I'll give you another chance.

That is all I got at the first shop I worked at. I'd say, "Bill, this is what I took this week".

Bill would say, "This is what you owe me".

Re: Planet BMX..

Never had any issues with them,BUT I would say get a part timer to help answer emails, you would do triple the business if you answered emails and phone calls, you would be able to afford the $350-$400 a week salary by far...You can get a NYer to work for $400 a week in florida from what I here it's even cheaper to hire someone...Get a school kid or someone retired...

+1 I have ordered many many items from Planet BMX. And I do receive the items in a timely manner. My beef with Ed is him not responding to emails or messages. I even have a neighbor that asked me about them and has the same complaint. Nothing is more frustrating than wanting to spend your money at a store and not being able to get the response you need to make the purchase. I have sent Ed a pm and hope I can get a response....so I can blow more $$$$$$!!!!!lol

Re: Planet BMX..

Ever try to run a small business solo?  Try it, it's a lot of fun.  I'd hate to see some of you guys wait for any foriegn parts. I've had to wait up to 8 months to get parts from Italy & Germany for orders that were already paid for from major corporations (not one guy) and 4-6 months for some Warranty parts!
