Re: pad or not to pad

I'm 34 and ride everyday I haven't busted a ball since I was a kid and man did it hurt, but at the end of the day do what makes you happy and build your bike the way you want it! Thats the great thing about bikes and bikers we always find a way to make a bike our own and don't give a flying flip about who doesn't like it. Bike on my man!

Re: pad or not to pad

I'd been meaning to start a thread about the "acceptability" of pads on mid/new-school bikes for a while.  I'd been thinking about slapping at least a TT pad on my Gen. Lee DJ bike for awhile now.  I like the nod to the OS along with the added nut protection.

I just think OS bikes look better with pads.

Re: pad or not to pad

S&M bikes look great with pads. Old school... not so much.
Never rocked them back in the day. Just my opinion.

Re: pad or not to pad

I used pads and a plate when racing only. Cruising around and every day riding I took my number plate and pads off till Tuesday evening and Sunday when the races were on and pads and a plate were mandatory. So for me, no pads.

Re: pad or not to pad

Most old school bikes were chrome. Pads on chrome rocks 80's style.

Re: pad or not to pad

yeah my bikes back in the day always had pads n plates racing or not. not a lot of kids growing up raced in our tow plus closest track was 45 miles away.  so yeah it was cool being the kid cruising with the number plate and pads
