So just for clarification, we are defining a "porkchop part" as what?

I have built every bike I have with the aid of porkchop. Now, with that said, I sure wouldn't put one of their chainrings or similar on a build but I sure do order brake cables, tubes, rim strips, spokes/nipples and in some cases tires from them. Is this considered taboo?

I can agree with a lot of the posts... he'll 98% of them.. I.E. droopy chain, mags on backwards... but two posts that stand out to me as a little over the top are the "laid back post on race bike and the porkchop hate posts" lol..

Solid colored chains, first and foremost
Double pinch flights on OS bikes
Backwards installed directional mags and tires
Bars pushed too far forward (just slide your seat back, it'll ride much better)
Braced laid back seat posts....even CW ones
Porkchop parts on anything other than a retro themed bicycle

If I had to pick just one single thing, above spokey dokes and V brakes and the Pacific Palms seat post, it would be those cursed bars. And there was a pair or knock off of them on EVERY bike from 1983 until 1988. I remember kids would put them on their freestyle bikes even. We should start an internet petition to saw up every pair of knock off ones (Wald, Diamond Back, etc) that ever turn up. I know I'll never sway people on destroying the originals, but sweet Elijah Wood, let's at least make the sight much rarer.

I understand that... I'm 42, I had a front brake on my 83 GT for doing endos when I was a kid but I still hate pegs on race bikes. I don't like mags on race bikes either but it doesn't drive me nuts.

I think you should do what YOU like and have no issue with PorkChop especially for things like brake washers and nuts. But that's not what this thread asks so Ill share mine....... all black tires, YUCK!

Either the Suntour Mp 1000's (i think they are MP's) or Hutch....those would be my first 2. I am certain there are a few other pricey pedals...but the names allude me.

Haha, I support the idea of doing what you want, I think this thread is just for fun and for people to have a place to vent their personal peeves. Everyone hates something, good to air it out and laugh about it, you know?

That said I'm pretty sure people are gonna hate my Compe build now, what with a drainpipe and some Porkchop tires/brakelines/grips/etc.

Coloured tires with no tan or gum wall. example: white tuffs with solid white tires. it looks so cheap. i see this on a lot of 86+ GT freestyle bikes.

what's even worse then a laid-back, braced laid-back on a racer, is a laid-back with the washing machine tubing cover.. and that's on any bike.

Honestly, who cares what people ride. And as far as those Porkchop comments, in reality some people can't or won't spend the ridiculous money on NOS parts. I've been building road/track bikes for the last 5 years, and I've never experienced the insane prices that I have with BMX parts. $250 for freakin' Oakley grips and $500 for a plastic Elina seat? Who actually pays these prices? In understand that the parts are rare, but they're so absurdly overpriced.

Not everybody pays that much though.. You just have to know where to look, or be in the right place at the right time... That is where the "score" comes in.
