uhh yea, they did show day glo pink and orange frames and parts in books. it was a incentive to build your own bike just like the pro's!! it was gt saying "hey kids, be cool and build
your own and if you do we will offer you these day glo colors." which is why Eddie had a day glo pink bike custom built and Martin had a day glo orange. so kids would go to the show's
and be like "WOW!, i want a bright pink or orange one like THAT MOM!."
you can discredit the 86 stuff all you want, its the same color though
but whatever, i still have 87 parts in the pics.
here are 86/87 bars with the darker 87 post. also 87 post by repowdered bars

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e90/D … G_6809.jpgHey, i'm not trying to discredit anything.. it's just when i'm dealing with my particular, color, year and bike I want to keep it as close to that as possible.. especially after all that's been learned. why would i want to compare and 86 dayglow batch to a rushed 87 xmas batch that prob wasnt even powdered by the same workers/company.. gt did themselves. All good, if you can't understand that dunno what to say. I really appreciate that you play along and take pics tho
kinda still feel you think it's the one-pink wonder color, but everyone here is entitled to their opinions...
DUUUDDE im NOT arguing what color you bike was...how many time do i need to tell you that. i understand your bike was NOT the color of the stuff im showing. im simply showing what day glo pink was SUPPOSE to look like. not what your bike DID look like. go read what i said a few posts up. the 87 post i have is really dark. so how is that thinking its a one pink wonder color? i can take a pic of it in dim light and it will look red.
duuuuuuuude..... you say "im simply showing what day glow pink was SUPPOSE to look like"... they were all supposed to look like their swatch..
look like for who??? the lucky 86 riders or kids who mom bought a frame for.. why can't the xmas 87 kids get any love... is my dayglow pink a fake color, not done by gt and is a complete farce.... the way I look at it, your 86 bike was more than likely powdered by the company gt subbed to do the work and mine was painted by GT themselves (high on drugs or not).... so mine must be better
That is kind of funny too how earlier when I said screw tiger drylac a few people jumped in and all defending them.. but all i've heard is the 80s were so wild and how much gt sucked at powdering in the 80s etc.. they were high etc.. so I guess its ok to talk about one company but not the other.. hypocrites I swear. ![]()
btw.. the sample I have I was told the color will vary with thickness... all your thinsters out there.

So, what's the color sample next to the "pepto glow" sample pic on the left?

I posted an add from nov of 86 for BMX plus with a day glow frame. Post #729 page 30. GT obviously started using color in 86, prob late that year, just guessing. And continued the color into 87. In the add I can see its more of the color Lego is referring to, it's just hard to capture a pic of magazine with iphone on computer screen. In the add there is a bubble gum pink seat post as well. You can clearly see the difference. There are some day glow orange handlebars as well.
Not tryin to beat the 86 stuff to death, but it's my fav year for GT.I got that from looking at your collection and it's a nice one , just saying that for my dec 87 restore I don't like comparing 86 frames, I don't care what they called. Esp is batches, dyes and where they were sprayed the bikes even changed.. do you realize that an 86 dayglow pink bike could of been powdered by one of the normal places gt had them done and then fast forward to christmas 87 where they switch or add a newer facility to spray them into the mix and they are the ones doing them faster, hotter, etc.
All good... light pink my ass @ demon.. you guys still in denial after all thats been laid out for you... funny...
http://www.pimpmyxbox.net/bmx/87pft/explode.jpg
I guess it's just part of being GT obsessed. The decision between 86 and 87 is so hard for my fav. 1986 had the most color options. Best decal design hands down. And frames being made all over place. I love the differences in Japan made vs USA made. They went from drastic steering head angles for ramp riding to steeper angles. Gyros started showin up. Etc, etc. But.... In my opinion the 87 S bend frame with the coin roll and larger standing platform is the coolest frame design ever. I love the design and the simplicity compare to S bend. But no one can deny the GT S bend frame. So I guess as a whole I like 86 better but the 87 takes S bend takes # 1

blue 87 signed by Gary
86 jr performer
DG orange 87
98 dyno slammer
working on my last two builds now before im done with building and stick to strictly collecting.
im also converting a 88 pro performer over to a 87 PFTT. always wanted a chrome 87 team but

Re: 1987 Pro Freestyle Tour Dayglo Restore
The faster some of your realize that fluorescent pink does not mean the color has to be PINK. Many fluorescent pinks are red or orange, every shade inbetween... and including the hotter pink too. Orange... red... pink.. all fall into the fluorescent pink category. That's why the tiger swatch looks orange... i'm about to leave this thread anyways and start my build one! Ya'll can do what you want.. I'm sticking to catalog best I can with the color, not the rarer pink variety ... hows it feel?
