The "score"
So for people that post there score's do you flip the bike?....
Or is it more more about the chase and finding the "score"?

Re: The "score"
I didn't even own my last score for 12 hours before I flipped it, but mostly it all depends on what the score is. I grabbed a Mongoose FS-1 a month or two ago, I still have it and have been sourcing parts to build it how I want it.
If you find a F/S or trade ad from me, ignore it. If you send me a PM and I don't reply right away, I'm not ignoring you - just busy at the moment.
Do I owe you feedback? Please remind me via PM and I'll take care of it.

Re: The "score"
I buy any and all scores i find.If it's something I like I keep it and if it's something I don't care for I flip it for profit to buy more.I flip a lot a new school stuff but hold on to any old school that I buy.

It is all about the chase to me. I love to find something that was forgotten and left for dead, bring it back to life and pass it on to someone who will enjoy it.

Re: The "score"
If anyone watches the show chasing classic cars on velocity, that is what the guy does. He loves to chase cars down and flip them. I personally like to clean them up and ride them then flip

Re: The "score"
I keep them until I run out of room, my best scores have been when I have not been looking so they are not usually planned for. I personally never part bikes, I guess I keep hoping someday my old bike will show up intact and not parted for profit.

Re: The "score"
I started looking last summer for a BMX from the era I rode/raced in now that my daughters are getting to the point I can bring them to the bike park to ride. And found a ton of bikes on CL last summer (old GT's, Torker, Powerlite, Predator's, Mongoose, Robinson, etc) this I can't find much of anything. The one's I have found this year are priced insanely high..... Not sure where to look besides CL, I've hit a few flea markets and nothing @ all.
I bought a 1989 Diamondback Hot streak a few months and a 1998 Dyno Slammer last weekend, not alot of luck hunting in New England.![]()

Re: The "score"
It's ½ and ½ for me...I wouldn't do it if I didn't make any money off it,but the search/find is 98% of the thrill! I find old stuff that people would want so I can get some parts that I want..Sometimes I'll buy a bike just for 1 item on the bike, then sell the rest for what I have in it,or more..I never turn down good/fair offers on anything because most likely I have already made my money back off whatever bike that item was on..I don't care if it is completely original,if it's easier to sell parted,it'll be parted..Friends call me the OG DESTROYER...I couldn't care less if the bike was complete for 25 years,if it benefits me and anyone who wants to buy the stuff,it gets seperated..

Some I buy to keep, but mainly I enjoy the hunt and then calculating how much I can flip it for to cover the ones I keep. Of course, then I end up just keeping those too. Watch for me an an upcoming episode of Hoarders.

You are not really the OG destroyer. If you break up one bike and part it off to help others complete 3 or more bikes then now we have three completes out there instead of one.

True, but if you break up 10 bikes that stayed all original for 20+ years, people start getting a little perturbed..
