When I was young I use to say "I`m invincible", today at my age I still say it no matter how much abuse my body takes lol I know my limits, I`m not doing stupid tricks/stunts. My doctor says I shouldn`t be jumping a curb, now thats weak tongue

Heading out with the family. No ride for me unless you want to ride around or after dinner time?

Re: Orlando area monthly ride

Hey guys , So what Saturday of the month are you guys doing this ? I just took apart my VDC but as soon as I get it together I would love to meet and reminisce. My wife says I'm too old for this and that I should sell it at our next garage sale:/ . After I picked my heart up off the floor I went itno the garage and began my mission of restore and ride at least once or twice a month. No tricks (linguring injuries) , just get out and ride. Let me know. Im in !!big_smile

Re: Orlando area monthly ride

Welcome Jradik. There is no designated day that we ride. Anybody can post here and say lets ride here on this day and time, it`s open mic lol There is 4 of us that live within a few miles from each other so sometimes we ride weeknights too because we live so close. Where around Orlando or central Florida are you?
Anybody want to ride this Saturday?

Rite Bike was a great LBS back then. Doug (RIP) was a nice guy.
Who didn't ride the Harley back in the day?
I was the guy with no car and no brakes in my bike.

That name rings a bell ....I must have bought 3-4 bikes from Doug(RIP) but my fav was my REDLINE RL20a (teal). I wasn't big on the seen by any means , mostly on the side lines watching(posing), then practiced on my own . I was a shy kid back in the dayand didn't want anyone watching me bust my butt .

Welcome Joey!  You remember Chip and Tarquin?  Chip usually rode a chrome Trick Star, Tarquin rode a futuristic black one.  Anywho, welcome to the disease.

So, about this riding thing.  Anybody wanna go for a cruise tonight?  Joey, if ya wanna join in, I've got several bikes you could borrow.  I've got an RL-20, an S&M and a Robinson.  Haven't decided which one I wanna ride.  I really wanna beat up on the S&M some, but I finally got the RL and the Robbie dialed in and they ride soooooo nice.  Decisions, decisions...  tongue

And Doug was an awesome guy.  He was one of the few shops that would sell used parts and he kept me supplied with DX pedals well into the 90s.  I still have the pair of Standard bars I bought there right before he died.

Re: Orlando area monthly ride

Welcome Jradik! Maybe, you can ride with Speed Racer, down on the south side, if O-town is too far to travel.

I bought a lot of stuff from Rite Bike, around 2000, when my son was racing. It was owned by Gary and Sharon then. I never met Doug. He must have passed, before that. I thought the name of the shop was a play on Gary's last name, so maybe they were related. Rite sponsored a BMX team and used to bring the bike shop trailer to Barnett Park on race night, after Outspoken Bikes quit catering to BMX.

Going back to the mid 80's, I used to purchase all of my parts from Conway Bike on Curry Ford Rd. Abbott's Bike Shop was infamous for BMX BITD. They were located close to the track, but neither location was convenient for me. All of these shops are closed, now, except for Outspoken, who has changed their main interest to road bikes.

Re: Orlando area monthly ride

I won't mind taking a drive out to O-town.

I remember Conway Bikes , my brother-in-law used to work there when he first moved out here. Rite Bike had better prices though and Doug was the one who got me interested in riding!! That was in the mid to late 80's. Ahh good times!! But anyways , as soon as I get my ride together I'll be looking to see who wants to ride either out here or in O-town .cool
