I don't feel embarassed anymore.

I don't know if I was the only one, but being over 40 and starting to ride BMX again felt a little strange at first.  What would people think?  Would they laugh?
Now after riding for a while, I don't really care what they think.  I am having fun riding with my kids.  What really made me feel good was not seeing another old guy riding, but I saw a guy yesterday who was probably near 60 riding a Razor scooter.  No offense to any scooter riders.

Re: I don't feel embarassed anymore.

There is no old in BMX.  You are on a bike getting exercise, way more than swinging a club and riding a cart for 18 holes!  Check Phares out.  Cool guy from here in GA.  I was at a race, where he won a trophy bigger than him!!!!

Wanted- White Industries Freewhee 19T and 20T, Mongoose Stainless Steel bars for a Moosegoose, and Big Gulp bars- because I think they look goofy enough to cruise with!

I still ride my bike around town and I don't give any damn what people think even when I ride on my pink performer but not what I had in my mind, surprised that lots of people came to me when I was on pink gt and said wow that something u don't see very long time.

I get a few loOks when riding my Bmx but I know When the suns out and I'm cruising along whilst they are sweating, stuck in a traffic jam that they would rather be pedaling with me, enjoy...

NAW man, 6'5" 220 at that point. I get asked that alot!!!!!! height is a curse!!!!!! You guys that are like 5"5"-6' still look like you fit on your bikes. I looked to big for them when i was in 8th grade and was 6' 1". Not fair. here is me on my 26"..........kinda of a weird angle, but you get the point!!!

F the haters.. I'll ride BMX til I'm 100 if I ever get that far and I can't pedal no more. I bought an "adult bike" (a road bike) and hated it. It's fake, boring, and way too many elitist in that side of the fence. BMX is always fun and never gets old IMO.

Good for you.
Riding a BMX with the sun on your face and the wind at your back clears the cobwebs out of the attic better than anything.

I can see that in a way but I would not call it fake since road bikes and racing has been around for a very long time. Maybe the guys on the bikes, but that's probably what you were getting at???

Anyway, I ride bmx and road. I always have and I always will. I love going for a really long burn on my road bike and then passing all the guys in the full spandex uniforms ect. I just blaze by them in regular shorts and a t-shirt. Only gear I really wear is cycling shoes and cycling socks. Just being on two wheels is enough for me.

Re: I don't feel embarassed anymore.

I tried doing the road bike thing, but when you are riding along and see something to jump and you go for it on the road bike, that is probably a sign that you should stick to BMX.

I ride my bikes almost every day. People always come running up to me like i'm in a parade or something and try to buy it. Everywhere I go people get all bleary eyed when they see my bikes. I still skate too. All haters are just jealous. RIDE TO LIVE.....LIVE TO RIDE....   smile
