I agree, if you can have a custom build from S&M or Standard for $250 to $300 less, its asking a lot to get a premium over them. I mean they are the high water mark for American made custom frames at this point, there are others of course, but 30% or more is asking a lot.

Isn't an S&M "custom" frame $500? That's no fork. And that's not a looptail. It's simply "custom" geometry (top tube length, head tube, seat tube angles, engraved head tube, etc). That's not that a true custom, to me anyways. Also, have any of you bought a new CW (not a bash at all, just an example of a beautifully crafted USA made product)? Those are a grand for the f/f/bar kit if I'm not mistaken... Just testing the waters here, there's only one 10th anniversary... Enjoy your weekend!!

Wow....Has it been 10 years already    I bought a 20" and a 24 Azusa when they were made 10 years ago.   does anybody remember them ?

the price tag is a bit out of my range, but this is a collector hobby, and i would bet that the sets would sell, if i had the scratch a 1 of ten set would be awsome in the line up, also what would people be willing to pay in a few years for one??

Dont get me wrong, im not saying it isnt a good idea, I love it when companies like CW come back from the dead to make awesome American products. I actually considered buying one of those as a rider. They had 2 sets, one was a team yellow kit that came with frame/fork/bars and post for $799. The others had custom colors for another $100 at $899.99. As far as custom goes, that would be each persons point of view on what matters to them I guess. To me, a custom bike is built with the specs each individual rider needs to get the most performance out of his or her ride with geometry that suits riding needs. Looptail or not, just built for performance for riding. So to me, custom is a bike built around the rider, not a bike built that a rider has to fit around.

S&M custom frames sell for $500 from S&M, my bike shop charges $460 for the frame and $110 for the forks from S&M, so it falls at $570, which is $280 less than the $850. This is not a big amount of money to me personally, but factor in a custom built rider frame that performs its best based on the way its built over the it looks, it becomes a bigger deal to me at least. Standard can do a custom personal spec build for the same amount as well.

If you offer different top tube lengths, BB heigth and chainstay, then that would be something else to give each person the closest possible fit for them, rather than buy a bike that will cost $2000+ after parts that looks great but rides like its meant for a 14 year old boy. But, if only 10 were made, there would be no problem finding 10 people who build carpet queens. There are a lot of people here who find pleasure in looking at the things from the past rather than riding them and thats good for bikes like this or the CW's. There are of course many different body types, so if only 10 are made, you might find people who fit on retro built bikes, just have to hope they have the bucks in their pocket as well.

Im very, very, happy to see people bringing back old school bikes no matter what the cost. Even happier to see them made in America which will always get a look from me. I dont care what they cost, I build for myself and desire things a certain way, so if my pocket book cant cover that need, I will wait until it can. I wish this project nothing but the best, I've never seen one of these bikes in person , but here on the museum, they look fantastic. If it was built with just the right geometry and tube lengths, I would be a gamer myself, looptail or not. but Im just saying the bike would have to fit me very well at that price, not look good because its retro. Good luck on this, im looking forward to seeing them if they get on the line:)

"rides like it's meant for a 14 year old boy"??? I'm not sure you know what an Azusa is. The tt is nearly 22" long, threadless hs, mid bb, v-brakes. It isn't reproducing  a bike from the past, that's like saying the new Mustangs, Challengers and Camaros are reproductions of old cars from the 60's...
