What does the seat stay plate look like right behind the seat post? Single plate? Double plate? or closed in?
Do you have a SN#?

that orange one has a double plate stamped dyno. I was looking at it the other day. seems weird there is no coasterbrake tab.

Re: Summer of 2012 80's Dyno build off entry submission
It looks like it has been spraybombed. ARe you sure there is no serial on the bottom bracket? Not trying to make it seem like you don't know what you are looking for, but sometimes if they have 2 or more layers of paint, the serial is hard to see. I am pretty sure it is an '87 though. Maybe late '86 with the double plate.

In the other pic, it looks like someone ground the paint off of the lower drop out. I have a detour with the sn right in that spot. Did someone grind on it?

Double plates started in 87 so I agree with Notorious. 87-88
89 they closed it in.

Glad to see the rules relaxing a bit. When you started the thread all I had was DQ'd. I'll be playing with this and maybe one other I recently acquired. Not many 2002 Dynos around...
I'll I did was paint and decals so far.

That double plate orange looks like an 86 d30 to me... double plate open braces started in 86. Was a SN ground off from the dropout? stolen? The no coaster brake mount still weirds me out though.
I might have something to enter. ![]()
Build it big!
No offense but I suck at negotiating, so rule of thumb: When dealing with me just assume the price is firm unless I say "OBO".

Re: Summer of 2012 80's Dyno build off entry submission
OK fools i am in!!!! i dug this one outta it's cave. Gonna be in the restomod class!! It is stamped as an '86 but it has the double plate and the cable guide on the top tube. It also has the serial on the top side of the rear drop. 6861399. I am guessing american made Compe II from June of '86. Got some big plans for this one. It won't be stock!!!!

Re: Summer of 2012 80's Dyno build off entry submission
'85 - single plate - cable guide on drive side of top tube
'86 - single or double plate - cable guide on drive side of top tube (except TRIMOLY models)
'87 - double plate (pro compe's were boxed and stamped USA made different dropouts than the regular models)
'88-89 - boxed plate (pro compes stamped USA made)
this should help ![]()
