who actually makes that stem? I have one branded as supercross. It's a nice bit of kit for sure.

Re: SKYWAYs NEW BIKE; Wa wa?
I got a blk Bullseye stem and spider, both packaged in the plastic. A smaller in bag would be nice to avoid wear on the parts.

Come on Bullseye, have a little respect for the sweet parts you make and sell.. and that we pay good money for.
It sounds to me like the polished Bullseye stems aren't clear anodized if they scratch that easily. If they are anodized then I don't understand how a plastic bag could scratch it. The primary purpose of anodizing is to give it a tough surface finish.

The chrome was splochy, uneven and supper thin and extra crappy. If it were my disc I would've sent it back right away. Pure garbage. And for 90. bucks?!? I've seen better chrome jobs on a AMF bmx bike. If I were selling these discs I'd be embarrassed to send even one of 'em out. Just sayin'
Oddly enough, the chrome on my 31 year old AMF Hawk has held up relatively well. It has some surface rust but it is easily restorable. If I have any complaints it's that several of the welds are just plain awful. ![]()

Re: SKYWAYs NEW BIKE; Wa wa?
No, there's no clear on it and I prefer it that way. I like the idea of being able to polish-out or touch-up a peace that has wore or tarnished out a little. When the clear goes on it makes the alumi look a little different. The luster of raw polished alumi has a bit more depth, imo. I think the metal has a slightly softer and even clearer look to it when it's not coated.
That what I'm saying. The 31 year old chrome on your AMF probably looks better. ![]()

I used it (Blue Magic) on my Hutch Pro Racer and it works GREAT! I used it with the red label Charmin toilet paper as I was told it is the only paper that does not contain wood fibers in it. (A little useless info on a Saturday evening)
There is also a thread in the restoration about this exact topic.

Since we are on the topic of polishing I have a question on the silver ano'd Hutch Pro cages. Can they be polished to a high shine? If so why by polished cages? Just wondering... ![]()

Anything aluminum can be polished, I bought a $50 or so bench top mean polishing machine from harbor freight and its works mint. I would recommend, if its something that will be ridden and or anything other than a carpet queen, that the alum parts be chromed. Over a much shorter period of time the alum will oxidize and need to be re-polished, where as chrome lasts alot longer and is much easier to clean.
What I'd give for a early 80's 26" GT Cruiser....

It looks like it could be a clear on the silver cages. They have a "wet look" to them. They don't look the same as ones that came on my candies(raw), but not as shinny as the polished cages. If they were clear there would be no chance of t/u or polish. ![]()

So What you guys are saying is my best bet is to buy the polished cages and not mess with even trying to polish the ano'd cages if thats the direction I decide to go in.(wall art)

After have a pair of polished cages in my hand i say yes, go polished. Guess what else? I lil B magic make them look even better than they came out of the box. Not by much, but in the right light or refection absolutely yes you'll see a difference. They're all the same price so go for the bling. Heck, I'm thinkin' about buying one polished cage and hanging it off a chain around my neck.
Now thats rock and roll. I'm on H.com right now and its not showing any polished pro cages, only mini. THey were there just a few days ago, I looked. ![]()

after wheel polish you can use gun oil or similar stuff to help prolong polish and stop oxidation and pitting on raw polished parts, just wipe down regularly
I use a similar bench top wheel and it work wonders

There have been some communication and order problems with Planet BMX recently but Ed does correct them. From what I've seen he appears to be a man of integrity. He certainly is burning the candle at both ends with the retail business, shop move, and Skyway and Bullseye projects. He also seems to frequent the forums and I've seen him post answers to questions on this thread in the middle of the night.
I know once he sees your post on this thread he will ask you to PM him and he will straighten out your situation.

Some silver parts have a satin silver ano finish and will need to be stripped first before polishing just as if it were colored, draino crystals drain opener works great otherwise it will have to be sanded off. Once that finish is off the $50 buffing wheel from Harbor Freight or even hand polishing will work miracles.
Looking for some reasonably priced Revcore parts for a Hutchins build.
Always looking for nice SKYWAY parts & gear.

Is that common in BMX parts that the polished aluminum isn't anodized or is that limited to Bullseye?
I grew up on my AMF, upgraded most of it's parts, and the bike never let me down. I still have a soft spot for it. ![]()

Re: SKYWAYs NEW BIKE; Wa wa?
Ooo, have you seen the new Bullseye brakes?!
At least I think they're brakes. They look nothing like the old ones and seem to be extra trick. I've stared at this pic for 10 minutes and can't figure out what goes where and how they work. You can see the slot where the brake shoe goes(I think), but am I looking at it upside down? If the spot with the little hole is where the spring mec goes, then would the "B" be upside down went mounted? Maybe its some new cable mount or wire lock. It looks like this pic was taken in such a way as to not give a lot of detail. These will surely make it onto the TA 24! The pic is from the BE facebook page. A little milling after the ano would be epic!

Re: SKYWAYs NEW BIKE; Wa wa?
I see the hole for the brake (inner) cable to go through and on the ather side of that hole, if its not soild, is some type of cylindracal camber to hold a some kind of lock mechanism to keep the cable tensioned. Like if you're standing over the brake area looking down on the bike the brake arm in the pic would be on the right. The one on the left would hold the noodle and the cable would span across to & through that hole and then tightened it down. If thats the case they'll be tricker than expected. ![]()
