1980 Fuji Orange Peel

Possibly the best bmx I have ever ridden.

Rare find.
I love this bike.
It rides so incredibly smooth and easy.
Very speedy too.
It looks great.
It is, in my opinion,  the best bike I currently own.

Anything (from cars to guitars to bikes) made in Japan in the 80's is well made stuff.
This bike is no exception. Quality all the way, this bike is a real bmx machine.

All original as far as I can tell. (Possibly not the bars though)
I ride it all the time now, unless its raining or snowing or might get stolen , in which case I ride my Redline 380.
I will not ever sell it (you can ask) but I wont sell it.
If you have a chance to pick one of these up ....do not let it get away!

HUGE THANKS TO BIZ FOR SELLING ME THIS BIKE FOR A MERE $150 !!!
(I geuss at 6' 4" he is sort of too tall to ride a 20" bmx anyway)

Re: 1980 Fuji Orange Peel

Thanks I dig this bike.
Bars too far forward?
I have always set my bars a little too far forward.
Weird looking, but feels ok to me when I ride.

Re: 1980 Fuji Orange Peel

I use to ride with my bars like that back in the 90s with the seat post jacked up high, mostly for cruising around town...not anymore tho. Nice bike I like it.

Re: 1980 Fuji Orange Peel

I am really more of a town cruiser type of rider anymore. No super crazy stuff for me.
This thing will see curbs and trails for the most part.
Pushing the bars up might limit control some...I am not sure.
I am so used to having most of my bikes set up like this, I have never set them another way.

Re: 1980 Fuji Orange Peel

Nice score! Interesting seat clamp position. ;-) Looks to be all original! Recently picked up an Orange Peel frame, my first of the "Feather" series. Was surprised at the bubble gum welds on the frame though, so I can only assume these were not manufactured in Japan, but Taiwan.

Re: 1980 Fuji Orange Peel

I think I have seen people use these old 2 bolt clamps both ways. It looks kind of weird either way.

Re: 1980 Fuji Orange Peel

I'm not sure if you are offended by my comment, but I'm getting that. Was not meant to be offensive. Below is the "correct" position of the seat clamp...

Re: 1980 Fuji Orange Peel

Not offended at all. For some reason I geuss I can come off that way on the internet chat thing... or worse. Anyway my excuse is:  I got the bike with the clamp like that, although I did adjust the seat. I admit the clamp looked weird at the time but I just left it because it looked like it had been this way forever. I will adjust it accordingly, thanks for the correction.

Re: 1980 Fuji Orange Peel

My sister had the plum crazy she hated the purple and sanded it, painted it blue and then traded it for a redline but it was tricked out with bullseyes and campy cranks I thought it was cooler than my hutch. wish she still had
it but who hasn't said that on this site. I miss my 24" Vector I still get sick thinking about it ,my dad got rid of it without telling me    Killer fuji !!
