Re: 1978 Team Rampar
I have been looking for a frame for my buddy for a few years. He was sponsored by Raleigh in the early 80's, and described it as an R11 (with the gussett welded all the way across and slotted hole for cable). He also thought it was nickle plated. Do you know if your frame style was used into the 80's and badged a Raleigh (I know companies are same, but he said it had Raleigh badging).

Re: 1978 Team Rampar
As far as I know the mongoose rampar only had an "R" badge, and it was known as a Team Rampar.
Here's some R10's that fit your discription, except no nickel..

Thanks BBK... that head tube badge on the second (black) Rampar is actually a Raleigh head badge. I had the older R-10 (with the single two hole gusset) that had the old Rampar "R" logo, so I know what you are talking about. The difference between the R10 and R11 is that the R11XL was a model for larger riders, and the gussets were welded all the way across top and bottom. The R10 model had three welds across the top and bottom of the gussets instead of a continuous weld (I imagine the R11 frame was longer as well). My buddy says his had the R11 and Reynolds markings with the Raleigh head badge, and the "R" logo in the gusset. I sent him a link to this bike and he said that looks like the one, so I guess I will have a hard time finding one. I have seen some R11s, but this is the first nickel one I have seen. He says he has some old pics, and I keep telling him to break them out!

Re: 1978 Team Rampar
Cool, But this is not an R11 this a Team Rampar from the makers of Mongoose, Jag, Blue Max... Made in Chatham, California especially for Rampar.
This frame is actually exact the same as a Jag or Blue Max (minus some small changes)
Maybe he had an R11XL, those are the only ones made with Reynolds tubing. But they don't have a looptail..
I had a Copper R11 those have a looptail and also came in an metallic gray paint though.
My R11:

Thanks a lot for the info... I haven't seen pics and know nothing about these bikes, so it has been hard to pinpoint what he had. He is pretty sure about the R11XL and Reynolds markings. Do you know if they were produced in nickel or chrome?
Your R11 is really nice... I love the copper color. I had an earlier Rampar R10 in red, which was my first BMX and on the list to get.

Re: 1978 Team Rampar
Y, where did you find that sprocket? That bike is going to be bad ass when finished. The front tire they used was a aggressor mx 2.125. I have never seen a Raleigh 2.125 tire. Did you get the Raleigh bars? Wait till you see my XL. I am almost finished. B
