gauging interest on a Washington DC area ride and/or meet.

I've been waiting for years for someone to set something up around DC... there's been some talk, but nobody has stepped up. I'm not much of an event planner myself, but if someone wants to take the lead, I can help out. Who's from around here? There was an old school event at NOVA BMX track about 6 years ago and Rob Quinlan tried to get an annual Rockville BMX event going, but those were poorly attended. Hopefully we can get something better going if there is interest.

No offense but I suck at negotiating, so rule of thumb: When dealing with me just assume the price is firm unless I say "OBO".

YES! This area needs some events. A swap meet/ride type of thing would be great, but I'll take whatever. I'm so jealous of all those other ride/gathering threads. DC people represent! Let's do this! smile

I would help out if a local takes the lead. I go there a couple of times a month. Lots of sites and eats in DC. This past year got voted one of the most bike friendly cities.

Awesome! I figured you'd be into this.

I am more than willing to help out too. I might even take the lead if nobody else wants to and my buddy is willing to help me out with the planning. He's not on here much, but he came on the Philly Ride with me and he would definitely be into this. He and I actually discussed possibly setting up a DC ride not that long ago, so I'll talk to him about it some more.

Cool man sounds great. If enough people seem interested anyone who's up for helping could meetup for some beers and plan it out keep in touch.

Getting together to plan things out sounds like a good idea to me. Hopefully there will be enough interest.

I'm old and slow, but I like to shoot pics and video, so whatever we decide to do, I'm game.

I'd be in for a DC event as well.

I don't believe in holding feedback for ransom. If you buy something from me, I'll leave you feedback when you buy. If I buy from you, I expect the same. If you wait for me (as a buyer) to leave you feedback first, before you leave mine, you won't get any.

Definitely. It seems there are enough people interested and I'm sure more will come out of the woodwork once they see plans being made. If Jon and others from up North are going to make the trip, this could turn out to be one heck of a good time. Let's do it!

Should we start kicking around ideas? Meet location? Ride route? Date?

Re: gauging interest on a Washington DC area ride and/or meet.

B&A trail is an old rail line from Baltimore to Annapolis.  It's flat and passes past a freestyle park, BMX track and one of the last shops that deals heavily with BMX in the area.  It'd be a cool ride with some sweet stop overs.  I could help work this out.

Cool to see so many people down for a DC ride. Now all we need is some spring time weather.
