I avoid Walmart as much as I can and bikes are the last thing I'd ever purchase from them.

Re: why is wallmart selling dirt jumpers?
A friend from work was looking at a 24" cruiser online and decided to check it out in person. It turned out to be very cheaply made and was far from being a quality bike.

Re: why is wallmart selling dirt jumpers?
the xenia would actually be a pretty decent quality dj'r, and it comes loaded with good parts for the money. I'd actually consider buying one if the frame geometry wasn't royally futtbucked.
What's the point of having a bike if you're not going to ride it?

The Xenia is actually a pretty good low-budget DJ bike.
Looking for a late Basic Small Town Hick frame!

that's what I'm sayin. it looks good overall, but this isn't 2001 anymore. no one is gonna be riding a freeride mtb with a high toptube like that. and to think they were sooooo close to finally making a really good wally world bike...

the Xenia that carbon got from Walmart actually seems to have a lower top tube. so the pic doesn't match up....

Those are not dirt jumpers, just like a toupee is not your hair. They may look the part, but that's all.

Re: why is wallmart selling dirt jumpers?
In my opinion, I feel the first batch of DK's that went into Wal~Mart were the actual bikes we used to buy from Dan's, etc. However, after these ran out due to high sales, the next wave coming in were cheaper made products in order for DK(Huffy) to meet the low purchase price demanded by Wal~Mart.
As for the Xenia, I had one from D&K and loved it. Nothing broke, but I cannot attest to these newer models where what you see on WM's site is not exactly what you are getting.
Wanted- White Industries Freewhee 19T and 20T, Mongoose Stainless Steel bars for a Moosegoose, and Big Gulp bars- because I think they look goofy enough to cruise with!

Re: why is wallmart selling dirt jumpers?
Probably some small print on the tag that the bike is not intended for dirt jumping or trick riding. If you were to break it doing something other than riding off a curb, the warranty would be void.
Just a guess.

Nahhh dude, I'm looking at the frame. And it's not my bike either. Like I said, it's Carbon's bike.

I have a 2005 DK Xenia:
Look at the angle of the top tube compared to the angle of the seat stays. Or, look at where the seat post clamp is--is it parallel with the top of the tire, or well below it. To me, the seat tube appears to be about 2 inches shorter. But I've asked Carbon to check....
http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/dk/54582
the seat tube (and top tube) means it's more like the modern standard dj lineup. on some of those bikes if you slam the seat all the way down it will hit the rear tire.

I remember when they came out, they had a street bike for 299. It's not there any more.
