1997 Powerlite XXL
1997 Powerlite XXL
Ask Danny and Chuck...
Okay, it's one thing to be factory-sponsored and have a one-off frame custom-built for you, but it's totally different to have something that is hard to come by among a population of pedestrians and wannabes. This '97 XXL has a 21"tt, and I have yet to come across one like it on the Museum or out in the world. I keep seeing P51s, P61s, and XLs with 20.63"tts, or else P-Lites with 21"tts that are either from another year or from another year AND made in Taiwan (yuck). Am I sheltered? Perhaps, but I will tell you this: She's made in the States, and she's got some of the nicest beads this side of Big E. I have some Powerbends for her, but need some P-Lite cranks (Profiles or CPIs -- it really doesn't matter) along with a P-Lite XXL stem. Then I'll build her with love, and my childhood dream will come to fruition.

Re: 1997 Powerlite XXL
Thanks. I actually passed on pulling the trigger on some mid-to-late 90s threadless P-Lite forks yesterday that were CHEEE-EEEEAP on Ebay. Not sure what I was thinking...
I can hardly wait to see yours when it's ready. We will then claim our own corner of the Museum!

Re: 1997 Powerlite XXL
It's okay -I bought those forks. You have one of the single frames they sold. They made the 61 out of XL's -so if you wanted bigger or smaller you got the XXL or the Pro frame. If you have a 97 date -probably really a 98. The 97's still had a flying brake gusset for a cantilever brake.
