Re: 1980 SE Racing Basher

I love this! I remember seeing one of these in 83 at the LBS where I grew up and wanted one because no one else had one.

Re: 1980 SE Racing Basher

Thanks,i did know a bit more history about these particular frames, something about them being made at the Diamondback factory in early 1980,These are not the rubbish ones made by Murray in 82-84.
The front half is chrom moly and the back loop and droputs are mild steel.I took a pic of the welds to show this is a quality made frame in origional condition.
Thanks for looking

Re: 1980 SE Racing Basher

NICE! Had one almost exactly like it 28somthin' years ago. Bought it for $318 at LBS in Kendall, Florida. Unfortunately for me it was ripped of - I didn't lock it up. It was an awesomely cool bike though, no one else had one, just rippers and pk's around.

Re: 1980 SE Racing Basher

I'm told it's welded at the American factory
No baseball stamp

Re: 1980 SE Racing Basher

...would you mind posting a pic of the aera behind the bottom bracket from the "non drive" side? From your pictures right now it looks very similuar to the DBs and Koizumi-made Centurions und TBC Cobras...from Koizumi...

Re: 1980 SE Racing Basher

A lot of Koizumi-made frames had the section behind the BB like this:

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh199/Ladis_album/P1080542.jpg

Is has a hole in it while yours seems to be more solid....So whar I don`t really know is, if your frame is Koizumi-made like lots of DBs in the early 80ies..or if its US made by some other company.

But what I do know is - I like your bike! Nice to see some else than the PKs and Quads from SE....

Thanks for sharing

Re: 1980 SE Racing Basher

All I know is
SE outsourced these frames to be made locally in America
They were made by the welder who made the first batch of DBs (first 200 or so)
I can't remember his name
Anyway it is a super cool frame
Thanks for looking
