Hello kabayan!  Im really glad you made this website...kahit na nasa ibang lugar kayo pinoy na pinoy pa din.  Miss those days in Philcite, PICC and Folk Arts, every Sunday morning...there used to be a dirt ramp in front of the Metro Manila International Fillm Center....dun ata ako unang sumemplang..hehehe calling out on those guys ridding during the time of Montoya bros, Norman Zacote, and Jumper....Berris in Balic Balic, and Bicrosser in Quezon Ave...post naman kayo ng pictures...too bad, ako ni isan picture wala...sobrang poor those days, can't afford film and developing...puro pyesa nasa utak hehehe.

Hello takagi welcome to the site yes i mis that day in the philcite evry weekend  ther is a big dirt ramp and evry one is jumping  and  after that we go ride up to bicrosser  in Quezon ave  for ther quarter pipe ramp  yes i still have a pic. of montoya bros, jumper  riding the ramp i post it later ...

Anyone from QC/Manila? I rode there from 89-97. One of the best moment for me was World Youth Day when the Pope came to the Phils, I believe this was in 95? All the riders in QC from different teams met up and formed a group of about 500 riders! It was CRAZY! We rode from Luneta to UP Diliman, terrorizing the streets along the way. I remember how we occupied the streets and no jeep or cars could pass by, it's like a swarm of bees invading QC! LMAO!! That was the most memorable BMX moment for me.

Anyone remember the dirt jumps in UP Campus? A lot of good memories there. We rode there ALL DAY EVERYDAY, and even skipped school just to ride. Heck I flunked 3rd yr high school because I cut classes EVERYDAY JUST TO RIDE!!!  Also I remember after dirt jumping, we went to the back lot to watch the flatlanders! Flatland was unheard of where I grew up so we were really stoked just watching them glide.

I went to Cartimar once when I was looking for a "GT PRO", didn't find one. I came home with a Kalapati instead

I also miss all the bike shops in Calumpang/Marikina... places like Ronter and Joven. Wonder if they're still there. Those were some good ol days. When I graduated grade 6, I got some  cash as a graduation present so the first thing I did RIGHT AFTER GRADUATION was I went to Marikina and bought a Spin Tech stem..... this is the part that started it all! I remember having a graduation party and I wasn't there... instead I was busy installing my new stem! I remember being SOOOO STOKED for days because it was the most expensive stem that you can buy back then (500 pesos = $10 today LMAO). So I had this crappy "magbobote" bike with a Spin Tech stem and I get looks all over the place. I started to upgrade my bike and eventually scored a Hutch Pro Raider.

A few years later, one of my friends' bike got stolen, one guy got his GF pregnant and sold his bike, another guy died, the rest of the guys moved on with their lives and I moved here in the U.S. Just like that, old school BMX in our area died. The next generation of kids who followed us were just not that involved like us.

Now as for the 2009 OS reunion... wow that was cool. I wish I knew about that, I would've gone. Martin Aparijo was one of my childhool idols BITD.

just learned about this forum when i was google-ing info about rad-movie.

old school bmx fanatic back in the 80s here from puerto princesa philippines.

will post here from time to time, for now, ill be checking out some photos muna (nostalgia and coping with the overload of info at my fingertips hehe.
cant wait to start my very 1st restoration project.
