Insanity: Premium Low Pez LT.

I acquired this via the 'bay.
(Between you and me I'm convinced that the seller had a shill in the woodpile).
Anyway, for those of you who don't know what this is....well you've heard the term scooter bike?
This is one of the main offenders. In  2009 Haro imprint Premium released this ridiculous frame.
3 pound 12ozs. for s street frame.HAHAHA the tubing is crazy thin. This bike will need some heavier parts (wheels) to keep from snapping the frame.
It feels like I could strongman snap this baby. anyway, I'm looking for its heavier cousin the Low Pez for a rider.
I've seen it all 4 lb pro frames in 80, 8 lb. pro frames in 1997 and sub 4 lb "pro" frame in 2011.
I know that a UK Revelation was basically the same  frame and suffered the same quick hook for the snapping feature.
I'm gonna build it and be careful

Re: Insanity: Premium Low Pez LT.

yea be careful with  the low pez lt they crack easily .thats the main reason  the stopped making them .my LBS had one sitting for a while  . i finally got the cash together to go get it and the guy who worked there bought it the day before . he rode it about a week and cracked it .luckily he got it warrantied and got a new frame .they put out the guttershark to replace it .also 3lb 12 oz but stronger tubing .i know 2 people who ride the hell outta the guttershark at kona and go big .they havent had any problem with it.i still think the low pez looks good .cant wait to see the build.

Re: Insanity: Premium Low Pez LT.

lol, that's a ridiculous weight.

When I think scooter bike though I think more about those low slung frames they make, where the seat winds up only a few inches over the BB and the bike actually looks like a damn scooter... like this guy:

http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/dd399/Jessie_Freeman/crap/211443.gif

They're soooo ugly.

Oh your bike doesn't have a scratch on it?

Tell me again what the best parts are.

Re: Insanity: Premium Low Pez LT.

I like the profile.
The seat tube on the low pez is about the same size as a CD case. It is SMALL.

EDIT: But will have a seat and a seat post that is not slammed.

EDIT 2: And will have a KUWAHARA fork, for some OS flava'.

Re: Insanity: Premium Low Pez LT.

I will update this weekend.
I finished the low pez lite and have not had any issues yet. I have been busy riding it! It is 21 pounds and really easy to throw around. Even with the seat way up, it is out of the way. Brakeless has been a bit of an adjustment.
I want to finish the gray low pez. I plan to make it my number one rider. The low pez lite is just a weight weenie experiment to make the local groms drool. The gray low pez will be about 24 pounds but burly.

Re: Insanity: Premium Low Pez LT.

yeah.
I saw that thing. There are a few on the museum. i'll stick to my $200 frame for now.cool

I'll tell you. i took the low pez to pittsburgh, rode the skatepark on bausman road and jumped the shite out of it.
I'm no pro but was catching some nice air on the box and quarter. The bike feels stiff.
Like Ramsdell says, would you bomb it down 20 steps no. but for my "style" airs and an occasional 360. it works.
brakeless however is scary as hell........yikesyikesyikes

NICE!!  smile ...... my son put a silverdoller size dent in his downtube u can see the stress cracks sad .all he was doin was a feeble on a metal bench and his wheel slipped off and BAM!! toasted a 4 month old frame(Cult BadBoy). so it doesnt really take a 20 stair just a bad hit on the wrong thing on the wrong day. the way he rides now im sure it wont be the first frame or anything else he breaks.his next frame is a WTP warriors ,WTP scorpio forks and WTP madmax bars.he will have to damage his WTP lo-fi  first tho.

Re: Insanity: Premium Low Pez LT.

I have heard numerous horror stories about many light weight new school casualties. Easterns, ltf's, Pretty much any sub 5 pounder is vunerable under the wrong rider. Fortunately I tip the scales at a 165 so maybe with discretion, I can make the bike last. As I said I have another one under construction. My low pez lt is #25. I'm not sure how many they made in 09.

Thats the only real problem with some of the new school butted tubes is they are easy to dent when hit on a solid object. Most of the time once they dent they will start to crack at or close to the dent since the tubing is so thin. As long as you keep them from getting dented up hitting stuff they will last. I have no doubt in my LTF when hitting big doubles dirt jumping because the bike is solid as can be but if it ever got dented I'm not sure I would trust it any longer.
