1992 Balance

only chrome bike model Balance made

bought frame from local swapmet he wanted $5.00 I gave him $2.00 one hell of a score. cleand rust off then started to build I know it's a race frame but I went with a flatland build glad I did grate geometry for flatland.the forks are 98 specialized heme forks thay where the only 1" inch forks I hade laying oround when I stared build. stem gt meat malet. bar was told thay are KORE but not posative all I know is thay have nice welds are beefy and have zero bend no of set straight bars. Levers are dia-compe tech 77 new style no locking buton. grips ODI ruffian lock on.GT bar end grip savers. Cranks ODSSYES excaliber 1pc. pedels SHIMANO PD MX platform. sprocket GRAVE YARD 30 tooth. brakes ACS BOA with KOOL-STOP EGALE brake pads best brake setup I ever had.the wheels are pergrine HP48 with coster brake freewheel 11 tooth.tires PRIMO v monster 20x2.10. seat clamp GT dool bolt oldschool. seatpost GT laid back midschool. seat GT freestyle late midschool. the pegs are PRIMO tub stakes.the GYRO is secunt gen ODSSYES 2. it has becum one of my faveret FLATLAND bikes hope you like it I do.

those are newer than 1987. I remember them in 92-93. copy of the 91-92 masters. I almost bought one from a local shop but found a master in Alberta.

I was told by 1990 thay discuntinued that model and where only making full aluminum race frames. but would love more info if some one has it.

I believe Balance started in the early 90's. I bought a Balance MTB in 92-93 and they wer just a new company.

first thay did bmx. then thay moved on to mountian bikes. just like morales started with freestyle bikes then sold the dezine to GT and it became DYNO. an morales whent to build mountian bikes. same type of deal. at least thats what I read on a web site but not sher how he got his info.

Didn't Mike King (late 80s / early 90's HARO Racer guy) start the Balance company???

I kind of remember that from back in the day.... maybe in like 92 or something.

OK! did some searching and I believe 93 was the first year for Balance.
Mike King and Harry Leary were on the team in 93. harry was in product development also.
I remember 93 as the first time I saw Balance in a bike shop here. I bought a Full Chromo MTB and rode it for about 6yrs. The Shop here only Carried the MTB line. But they did bring in those Master copy's as they were a low end bike that sold for about $200 up here in Canada.
They sold lots of them, but haven't seen any around here lately.
I'm gonna check out my issues of plus from 92 and see if there was any balance stuff i them.

bikerman, I smell what your sprayin', it looks awfully similar, the only noticeable difference is the dropouts are completely goofy. Any luck on the back issues???
check out gavs Balance frame too.

another small update on Balance.
this is by using my collection of BMX plus.
nothing in 92 and by 97 they were gone.
John Purse and Matt Haden were Factory Pro's. By 97 Purse was on Redline and Haden was on Torker.
Purse was thier longst pro from 93-96 when he won NBL #1
I know he was on redline when the world were here in 97.

I'll see what else i can find out.

Mike kind didn't start balance. Some big corperation was behind Balance.
I know I have a Brochure her from when i bught my MTB. I'll have a look.

Anyone know what brakes were used on the 92 Balance? Seat? Stem?Rims?

it hade a cheap as in low cost nock off of a primo stem. came with front and rear MX dia-compe copes ,generic staigt post, a dominator seat but that was for the one like mine. the alloy BMX race models had way nicer parts!

Mine has a serial number starting with M92O#######. She came with a layback. I thin seat clamp that resembles a tuff neck brand like my 91 Haro MAster. Im in love with her. Based on the information I have found, she is a full 4130 frame and fork combo. IM DEBATING ON WHAT TO BUILD!!!

in stock form they where specked with low end parts that broke easy. jus buy the good stuff and ride it like you stold it! I diched / sold off most the stock parts on mine.

i just got one of these off ebay for $50 , score!! great frame i will be building it and i will post picts soon how many of these were made ?? i heard the number is very low! i like yours great build !! hit it right on the head!!
