1974 Redline Squareback
1974 Redline Squareback
136th Red-Line made
This bike looked rough when I got it but it cleaned up nicely and still retains its original nickel finish and has not been drilled. This is a very early Nov/Dec 74 built frame and fork (136th built) The bars were custom made back around 75 and I made the pad the way we did back in the day with foam tubing and electrical tape. The stem is a Webco modified Ashtabula. The wheels are .125ths spoke Kin-Lin’s with Aggressor MX tires. I used a Schwinn diamond crank and sprocket with Schwinn pedals, bottom bracket and headset.
I’m looking for a clean 1975 Mongoose (long) frame, and a nice original finish Mongoose Two/Four

Re: 1974 Redline Squareback
That's Awesome Ken! I'm a huge Redline fan but I never knew of Squarebacks until I got back into bikes. So thanks for keeping the pre-1980 Redline flame burning bright.

I regret the day I sold my square back in 1985! That is a very nice piece of history you have there.
Into collecting BMX before old school was old school...

The double clamp stems came out in 77, the first gen (proto type) came out in mid/late 76 but those are extremely rare.

Re: 1974 Redline Squareback
Did you buy this as a complete? I'm asking because the way you worded it, it sounds like you may have changed out the cranks.

Re: 1974 Redline Squareback
The bike wasn't complete when I got it, it was basically just a frame and fork. Sorry, I should have worded that a little better

Re: 1974 Redline Squareback
If you told me the stem was the rarest piece on the bike, I would believe you. A really cool bike.
