Re: North Carolina Riders

I would like to see what else is available in Burlington.  I am not terribly interested in going to a track and would rather find a nice place to go on a casual ride and have a choice of places to hang out at afterward.  Can you fill us in with what else would be available to do out there?

This is sort of why I was saying come the Charlotte.

Downtown has countless restaurants, bars, Nascar HOF, Arts District.

Not that it's really something great but their might be other options.

There is a skate park a few miles from downtown.

And Hornets Nest park is a few miles the other way if that's what you're looking for.

The only problem I see is that if you all come here I'll feel like I have to be the host and come up with a plan for everyone.

Which to me it would be cool if we just had a place to hang out talk shit and ride our bikes around.

All we need really is an empty lot, a tent and a cooler. big_smile

Just a thought.

When you compute the length of time between the "EVENT" and "THE NOSTALGIA FOR THE EVENT", the span seems to be about a year less in every cycle.
Eventually the nostalgia cycles will be so close together that people will not be able to take a step without being nostalgic for the one they just took.

I'm with both of you on this, even though I'm ok with going to Burlington if that's how it works out. I understand the whole BMX bikes at the BMX track thing, but I was raised on freestyle, not racing. If we're trying to be as inclusive as possible a downtown ride is better than a track. Not everyone can get on a track and ride but everyone can ride on pavement in town. Macr0w and I had a nice little cruise thru downtown Charlotte during the Trans Jam contest, and we had two young boys with us. I'm not trying to piss in anyone's wheaties but I would rather see a good sized turnout than end up three guys at an empty track.

Be really cool if we could do a swap meet / show, not now but perhaps in the near future, NC desperately needs some love too.  I'm down for any city.

Re: North Carolina Riders

could be a whole seperate event but i WILL have a grand opening ride for the shop. i'm burning up the roads trying to find a spot. the ones i think are the best fit are to expensive. the ones that i can afford are in areas i'm not overly thrilled on. then theres a few that fall in between. i'm still pissed about the first location not happening(even though it still could) as even though i had 30-60 days worht of work before it could be opened it was VERY affordable and i LOVED the building. something is going to pop up soon. i can feel it. i wanted to go to Interbike but put it off trying to get this taken care of. i'm still trying to keep a forecast of finding a place and being open BEFORE november...ken....

Re: North Carolina Riders

I am fine with Charlotte myself.  Atleast we can go schmooze around the area down there and have a good time.  I know a few people and places over in the Central Avenue area (the penguin!) that could be a good starting and stopping point.

I thought I saw a Catawba Soccer shirt in one of the pictures. I'll be in St. Augustine for a wedding in Nov.

Re: North Carolina Riders

It seems like we're pretty good for mid October, we just need to nail down a location. If you guys could, take pictures and post them up so we can get an idea about parking, riding, and dining. This way we can start nailing down details and if we're going to do a ride, or show and swap, or some combination.

Re: North Carolina Riders

I guess we need to see which location is going to be best.  I say that our reps for each city give us a little more info as to why (specifically) their place would be best for a good sized group of people to be entertained.  I am open to whatever sounds best.  What are the spots to ride, can they accommodate 20+ people, what is there to do for older adults and kids alike, what is the variety of food places, and what kind of facilities are there for before and after an afternoon ride.  So let's hear it...
