1983 Murray X24c Team
1983 Murray X24c Team
Survivor bike, found in germany
This is the nicest Murray I have ever seen. Notice the quality of the welds. thats how you can tell it is a "C" or Chromoly version. Most were "R" which meant regular = mild steel.
The Hutch pedals, 401 flights and turbolite hubs help too. Anyone recognize that bottom bracket? Jp, like the sticker? Anyway, thanks for the submission

Re: 1983 Murray X24c Team
Hey Gary,
yep it's the JP bottom bracket set including the titanium spindle. My plan is to update the ride with a gold anodized Flight sprocket and chrome Araya 7x rims.
Cheers

That's the nicest Team Murray I have ever seen before too. I always forget about the Team Murray, but that was the first BMX bike I ever owned. Very cool find, looks like someone took real good care of it.

Re: 1983 Murray X24c Team
Hey, First the bike is beautiful. Second, have you ever compared it to a store X24C? Its hard to tell but it looks like the head tube is shorter on yours than the store purchased X24C or is it the same?
Either way, you probably have the best Murray on the planet!

Re: 1983 Murray X24c Team
This frame was built for Brad Birdwell. The geometry is totally different to the store bikes. The handling is superb but the top tube could have been a bit longer. All in all the chrome finish is excellent and the welding seams are beautiful. I was told it was made by Voris Dixon.
I've owned theese bikes for more than 20 Years now and no, all my Murray bikes are not for sale! (not now
)
Cheers

Re: 1983 Murray X24c Team
Hey, have you checked with Voris? He is on the museum under VDC. I was checking with him about some other parts. He might be able to give you some more history on the bike.
What other Murray's do you have on the site?

Re: 1983 Murray X24c Team
always hated murrays but this is TOP NOTCH
"First of all Rat, you never let on how much you like a girl. "Oh, Debbie. Hi." Two, you always call the shots. "Kiss me. You won't regret it." Now three, act like wherever you are, that's the place to be. "Isn't this great?" Four, when ordering food, you find out what she wants, then order for the both of you. It's a classy move. "Now, the lady will have the linguini and white clam sauce, and a Coke with no ice." And five, now this is the most important, Rat. When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV."

This one of the Sickest Murray's around! You hardly ever see a complete survivor X24c verses a X24r. Great components, and built to high end specs.....Love It, Love It, Love It! ![]()
