Re: 1985 Huffy Racing 50
Have one of these sitting out in the garage. Dusty and dirty from hangin in a barn, but still has the nubs on the original tires.
I remember wanting one bitd before I learned about real BMX bikes.

Nice bike mate you got a bargain there, I nearly bid on it myself. Looks prety good as it is without the restoration.

Re: 1985 Huffy Racing 50
Wow thanks for all the comments.
As it stands now, I have recieved it and paid just £15.57 for it!!!
It's had a damn good wash and polish, a full service. and believe it or not, it was listed as spares or repairs, but it is mint apart from some frame scrathches.
On the downside, it has a coaster brake, and the crank arms are a mere 125mm long, making the ride feel very 'kiddie' bike, and the frame is much shorter than my 2003 Huffy M80 Cory Nastazio Signature edition
So future plans are: find a NOS odessey one piece crank with 170/180 mm crank arms, set of KKT SMX pedals in gold [currently bidding on ebay for] and get a layback seat post so the frame doesnt feel so short
Will post pics of her in her current state od polished and de-braked soon

Re: 1985 Huffy Racing 50
As promiced, here are some pics of it after a good service and a good wsah and polish.
Couple of mods from standard, removed the plastic chain guard and removed the rear brake [made by Polygon which took me way back]
This is how it arrived with me
and this is now

Re: 1985 Huffy Racing 50
Cheers, although I took it to my local independant bike shop that has been in the indistry since forever and he believes that the date of the bike os wrong. I was only going by the ebay listing, but he is sure it's more like a 1979 model, judging by the gooseneck headset and the brand of the coaster brake.
Can anyone shed anymore light on this, bigcoz75 you say you have one in your garage can you help with some more info on this model, I would hate for the listing in the museum to be wrong and or misleading

Re: 1985 Huffy Racing 50
Nice bike. I had a Huffy Racing 50, maybe not an 85' but really close to that year. I had actually forgotten what is was called, I just remembered it was black and a Huffy. Never dreamed I would ever see one again! Neat!

Re: 1985 Huffy Racing 50
The year is not set in stone, I've only gone by an average of what information I've been given on various different websites.
I am in the UK and Huffy's are not all that common over here, so i've mainly relied on onformation supplied by here and a couple of other US bmx sites
What year was yours?

Just picked one up in a Craigslist lot yesterday.
Little rough but rideable.
I agree the cranks are ridiculous.

Re: 1985 Huffy Racing 50
Nice! When I started racing in '88, this is what I had as it was my first bike! Changed the crank, spindle, sprocket and pedals, got rid of the coaster brake and replaced the gooseneck with an Odyssey stem (don't remember specifically what it was....red/six hex bolts) and raced that for my first season! Awesome find!
That which doesn't kill us
must have missed us.
