The only thing they should do is add upload of pix so we don't have to use Photobucket.   This should also be the way for the entire MUSEUM...especially for the R&D area.

Re: OK it has been a week and the New/Old F/S section threads have died?

I like both but favor the "old/original version best"

I only check the new section because there is items listed there that's not in the old section.

My mini rant about the new section is that it's starting to pull the unknowns out of the wood work and feels like the bastard child of craigslist and ebay, which I personally don't care much for.

and now we have people just joining the site out the blue to sale on the new forum and most of us don't know the individuals and they don't even post on the rest of the site "just the new sale page"

We now also have new "sale" members posting lots of different items in the new sale forum under the same single sale. Why is this being allowed, it's confusing and the member does not even reply to pm's or emails. The way it's set up each item should have it's own sale listing.......correct?

Either way I really don't care which one I have to use as long as the site has A For Sale Section!

Re: OK it has been a week and the New/Old F/S section threads have died?

I like the way you can look up items by manufacturer, saves a lot of time, but the lack of comments make the for sale board static, it never moves......that is why the old way gets more action, it is the bumps......you keep seeing the post pop up and think maybe I should check this post out, or what am I missing here, and you check out the post.....there is a simple solution to this, which I have already suggested to nate, is to keep the new for sale section as is accept to allow comments and questions.  That way we will see the for sale board move and be able to notice which posts deserve attention while sitting on the main screen....That is what makes this site seem alive.......and I really hate to say it is the bump....people who have been around long enough to have seen how things were when they got rid of the bump for a while....everything went static....just like it is now.....this should be an easy fix and they need to try something out soon.....RP

Don't really care too much either way. But I will say that a link in the old section to a new section FS item is a jerked off move.

Also, couldn't the different styles be combined?  Ebay has Auction style, BIN, and Best Offer...  Let's take the best of both, put them together...

Otherwise, really...  I haven't looked at either.  Both are slower than molassass (yes, I just wanted to say ass twice in that last word)...  it is boring, no excitement.  I won't post FS ads either, because now people can't buy on impulse, which is 70% of people's buying decision...  when they have time to think, they make rational decisions.  This hobby doesn't sell off of rational decisions...  THAT is why nothing is selling here....  not economy, not prices...   (well, at least those aren't the only reasons anymore)

I think that you and others are making some compelling arguments for the "old" way. It almost makes me feel nostalgic, missing the old for sale section (when everyone was posting in there I mean). Maybe I'm just overly sentimental LOL...

But, I still don't understand why people keep saying that people cannot buy on impulse in the new f/s section. I've asked this 3 or 4 times and have yet to see an answer. What is the difference between browsing through the new list and saying "holy crap I need that, why not, hit the BIN!" and doing the same thing in old section calling "dibs on the Yonker 3000 doodiddle for that Yonker ZZY f/f I may find one day!" I'm sincerely asking why you think it's somehow different...?

Well put. I guess I can sort of feel that. It's not really a logic thing, which is why I didn't get it, but I can see what you mean. Thanks for the honest answer.

I guess, there is just no excitement..  there is less traffic..  most of the BIN's I'm seeing are overpriced..  it just isn't exciting, prices aren't there..

Having a "Best Offer" option would help.

I hear what your are saying, and I don't have a good answer...  but to me, there is no emotion in the FS section now..  emotion makes sales.  There just isn't emotion there anymore.

Plus I agree...   just like ebay..  why?  Sure ebay costs...  but ebay has more value that the NS section, because of the amount of veiwers, and auction style gets the blood flowing.

It's just plain boring, and unless I know exactly what I am looking for, it really is pointless for me.

I can see your point too (in addition to "tried my best!"'s succinct summary.) I said that right from the beginning that the only real problem I have with it is the coldness. Comments would help, but of course would open up all the issues that the mods are wanting to get rid of.

I can feel it now. Thanks.

Re: OK it has been a week and the New/Old F/S section threads have died?

I was digging the new section.. and I guess I still am except:

1) Bmx Pro 69 needs to get a clue and stop listing 20 items in each listing... which means you can't use the Buy button and in general is just annoying so I've passed on several items. It's like he wandered in there thinking it's the old section and is trying to use it just like the old section?
2) I bought some hubs using the buy button... paid immediately. Next day, I get a refund from the seller. No explanation... no PM, no e-mail - not even a freaking note on the refund of why he refunded me back. So I e-mailed him several hours ago - no response (but International, so the time difference may explain that).

Yeah those BMX Pro 69 postings are super annoying. I don't even look at them anymore.

Re: OK it has been a week and the New/Old F/S section threads have died?

im old style baby!! The new forsale section seems almost generic, the amount of stuff now being posted on it to sell.  I thought I was on ebay for a second other day in the NEW for sale section.  Not only that NO way am I going to make a BIG purchase on an item without some comments lol BUT it definately seems like more "manufactured" mass cra p is being posted, since they know no one can comment on it sad ...to each there own!!!

When someone clicks the Buy button it says PENDING in big letters - once the person goes to Paypal and pays, the listing disappears. So supposedly, if you see it with no PENDING showing, it's still for sale.

agreed, some stuff is listed as high as bikesandmore's EBAY listings lol but at the very least those have a "or make an offer" option

So if it is sold it disappears? Where is the proof of the sale? Condition of the item? I would feel a lot better if you could post comments like before. I dont like anything about it.
