A big thank-you to oldsklharo & relic for your advice and help acquiring some key parts for this build. Also a special thanks to caezar who graciously sold me the A'ME unitrons off of his own build so that I could finish this in time for the June 5th BMXSociety show.

Re: 1985 VDC Freestyler
thanks guys! the compliments are much appreciated. it took quite a bit of work to get everything together in time for the show, but it was definitely worth it!
i acquired the F/F from a member on bmxsociety. it took a while to decide whether or not to build it up considering it survived 25 years without being built and only had minor shelf wear. however, i came to the conclusion that it would be a lot nicer to build and share it with people at the show rather than display the frameset in my home or office. (not many of my friends or family would be able to appreciate it for what it is). i will admit, this is one ride that is definitely going to be a carpet queen! ![]()
greyboy, i already pulled the bars back but am too lazy to take new pix.
i'll probably post updated pictures after vicsta takes some at the reunion show.
some other things i should note are that the rear dropouts were extremely close together and i had to remove the lock washers on the rear hub for it to fit. i also had to grind down the top bearing cup on the headset in order for it to fit in the head tube. thank goodness for my dremel! i'm not sure if other VDC freestyle owners experienced these issues, but it definitely wasn't a smooth build.

Re: 1985 VDC Freestyler
well it definitely caught me off guard so if i remember correctly, my reaction was an empty stare with a "really?? wow!"
it took a few minutes to sink in, but by the time they started the freestyle jam i was definitely stoked. i wanted to run around to tell a bunch of people but didn't know if i was allowed to.
thanks again to all the guys over at BMX Society for an unexpected bonus to an already awesome day~!

Re: 1985 VDC Freestyler
Conservative o.g. paint & decals by 1985 standards make it look timeless now, = one beautiful VDC.
Looking for 85-86 Rl 20 II frame in rider condition. Elina flyte tech eat in white used rider condition.
