1978 Schwinn Stingray
1978 Schwinn Stingray
What Joe Kid made me do.
After watching Joe Kid on a Stingray it brought back alot of memories how we used to build bikes. So after building cars, trucks and motorcycles I thought why not build a bike where it all started for most of us. I took a 1978 Stingray frame added 79 Ashatabula forks, then found some almost nos Lester wheels. Added to that Schwinn Scrambler box bars, neck and sprocket, painted the frame 70's Corvette white put on a messinger seat, nos schwinn and rad pad for the neck and red hunt wilde grips. I built this bike to represent the bike I would have loved to build when I was ten.

Hey, great build, I just love 70's bikes, this one just screams "Old School" to me. Would love to build a Singray one day too, I already have some cool parts and a couple of sets of Lesters waiting, but Stingray's don't come up for sale that often in the UK.
Take time to play..... It's the secret of perpetual youth!

After seeing "Joe Kid", I wanted to do a Stingray on Motomags. Your bike captures the exact vibe I was looking for. Way cool. Instant fave.

Re: 1978 Schwinn Stingray
I swear I had that bike as a kid. Is it mine? Just kidding, but I do love it. Mine even had some super heavy Lesters on it for a while. Love it!!!![]()
