1988 Haro Invert

Daughter's Delight

I started with a Haro Invert frame (that someone stickered as an FST) to build up for my 2 1/2 year old daughter.  It was fun to build for her because I just threw a bunch of colors together without much concern about original parts, although it does sport some old-school stuff.  The FST decals do not bother me enough to justify the cost of replacing, especially since the frame is not in perfect condition.  Over all though, it was fun to build, rides nice, and is pretty sweet for a bike belonging to a toddler (don't worry, she'll learn on her Barbie bike).  I used three piece cranks only because I had an extra bottom bracket and the cranks were only $30 new.  Yes, they are for a road/ track bike, but it'll be a while before she would be in danger of breaking them.  I probably spent way too much building this, but it's a fun hobby and it's easy to spend gradually as you find the parts.  She better like it when she's older!
Here are some of the parts used:
Haro Fusion stem (Expertly Krylon'd by me)
Redline Platform pedals
Tuf-Neck Chainring
Origin 8 Crankset
GT seat clamp (double bolt)
Tioga laid back seatpost
Viscount Dyna seat
Baby blue Skyway Handlebars (that by pure luck matched the frame quite well)
A'me grips
Odyssey brake levers
Odyssey Dynatron headset
Mags (brand unknown - from LBS, only $50 for the pair)
Mongoose freestyle tires (probably mid-school)
Skyway Pegs front and rear

Re: 1988 Haro Invert

Pulled up this old article thinking it may help answer your question, but it really doesn't. Cool blast from the past anyway. From July 88 issue of American Freestyler.

Re: 1988 Haro Invert

Inverts did not have the standing platforms integrated into the rear dropout area like all the other Haro freestylers at the time.  That is the only difference I can find.  That article is sweet though, thanks for posting it!

Yeah, the article is cool, but now I'm tempted to build it with original parts (now that I can see what it came with).

+1 and they came with odyssey brakes, foot steps on the forks and not the standing platforms as on the FST/FSX, different seatpost clamp plus the seatpost wasnt fluted wink

Thanks!

Scan the pages I want and upload them into my Photobucket account, then copy and paste the IMG code into the message space. It's kind of a process but it's more than worth it to share all the photos and articles I have from my old magazines.

I've got a mint/turquoise invert stamped 87.. survivor mostly original.. My brother got hold of an Australian release black/teal FST (88) Exactly the same frame.. We know the guy who bought it new, so def not rebadged!! rad bike, black tuffs and white tyres and components, post it soon..
Love the articles BTW. haven't seen a lot of info on inverts before..  Back to top.. CRAZY colour scheme, nice one..

Son of a...lol

leave that for your daughter so when she gets older she will have one to ride.  Start a new build and do it with original parts?  More than likely she will just drop it and run to do something else if she is anything like my son.  Nice build however.  Should have bought that Skyway decal...the price was right
