Helpful tips Ebay Paypal what you didnt know

how to make sure you have things covered

As a seller did you know that paypal requires you to have signature required as well as a tracking number if a item sells on ebay for $250 or more. It doesnt matter if you have a tracking number and it states it was delievered. If the buyer says they didnt get it paypal will more than likely rule in their favor.

As a seller every item sold on ebay valued under $250 has to have delievery confirmation or a tracking number that way you show you have proof of shipping it and the buyer recieving it

as far as buying and selling on this forum. There really isnt buyer protection threw paypal . pretty much everything I sell here has a delievery confirmation number or tracking number. It is a wise thing to do if you are selling on here to get one or the other on the items you are selling on here. without this paypal will rule in the buyers favor and more than likely refund their money if they say they did not recieve the item.

As far as trying to get your money back for a item not as described or damaged. this has to be taken up with the seller. If they prove with tracking its been shipped and deleivered its not paypal problem.

I offer optional insurance to keep costs down if you dont insure and its damaged or lost in shipping its on you for not paying for insurance.

gifting funds if it comes out of a balance in your paypal account or comes out  of your bank account there are no fees for the buyer or the seller.

If you are out of the country or pay with a credit card when gifting funds the buyer ends up paying the fees.

few shipping tips

printing labels on paypal for Usps is cheaper than going to the post office.

if items weigh less that 13 oz first class mail is the cheapest way to ship.

parcel post is not always the cheapest way to ship and sometimes cost more than priorty mail.

priorty mail boxes are FREE and priorty mail comes with FREE delievery confirmation when printed off paypal.

cheap ways to ship items bars use 2 priorty mail boxes and tape them together typically its under 3 lbs this way. or buble wrap them and use a tvyke envelope less weight.

cheap way to ship tires and hoops. but hoops need to wrapped up first in bubble wrap or something. cut the tyvke bags into 2 down the middle then cut the ends open. you can wrap up tires and hoops just like new hoops use to be wrapped in paper. this is the lightest you can make tires no extra weight for a box

small flat rate boxes are good for pedals and stems you can ship them for $4.75 when printed out on paypl with deleivery confirmation.

also sign up at usps.com for a account you can order all your priorty mail boxes bags and envelopes and they will ship them to your house for Free
after you package and print labels USPS will pick it up at your house as well no need to go to the post office.

If you sign up for a account at Fedex I beleive you get a 10 or 15% discount

If you sign up for a UPS account and print your labels off paypal I beleive you get a price brake as well as the tracking number emailed to the buyer as soon as you print a label same for usps emails sent with delievery confirmation numbers

If you do a lot of shipping bikes boxes can be picked up at most local bike stores for free.

I find packing tape cheapest on ebay when bought in bulk you can get 36 rolls of 2mil 110 yard tape for about $50 and 24 rolls for about $36

small bubble wrap envelopes on ebay purchased in bulk you can get 250 for about $30 which is like .13 cents a piece. if you have purchased a small pat from e you have gotten one in the mail

Hope this helps some for those who did not know

NEW INFO

USPS offers flat rate Legal envelopes now fit 1 piece cranks price of shipping $5 in the states
Also NEW bubble wrap flat rate envelopes good for seats cranks cost $4.95 to ship
cheapest way for pedals and stems small flat rate boxes $5 to ship

Shipping tires
Take tyvek priority mail bags cut them in to strips
http://i522.photobucket.com/albums/w349/stevenbven/DSCI3613.jpg

then wrap the tires you can use the self adhesive tape on the bag to attach them together then tape over the seams. you use some tape but it does not add weight to the tires so no extra expense paid on shipping a box.

http://i522.photobucket.com/albums/w349/stevenbven/DSCI3614.jpg

all wrapped up then tape over the seams
http://i522.photobucket.com/albums/w349/stevenbven/DSCI3615.jpg

here is a pair of 20 x 1.75 GT tires all wrapped up 1.8 lbs so 1 pound 13 oz
tyvek keeps the weight down so cheaper to ship
http://i522.photobucket.com/albums/w349/stevenbven/DSCI3617.jpg

Total $7.61  From  IL to CA

Re: Helpful tips Ebay Paypal what you didnt know

NOne of this matters when sellers want payment as a gift. Its soooo stupid ,raise the price if it a problem. Its such a small % to make sure things are on the up an up

Re: Helpful tips Ebay Paypal what you didnt know

nice job steve -

but this statement

"As far as trying to get your money back for a item not as described or damaged. this has to be taken up with the seller. If they prove with tracking its been shipped and deleivered its not paypal problem."

My experience(s) the buyer only needs to say the item is not as described (ebay auction) - provide "proof" they have shipped it back and paypal refunds the money. I noticed this scam on some computers and IP phones I sold awhile back - the guy bought my stuff took the lic information and some parts. I presented paypal with information on this and they did nothing.

the auction was for under 250.00 it stated 'as is and no returns' - paypal reversed the payment before I even received the items back.

anyway - thanks for taking the time to write that up ...if anybody, you should know all the ins and outs of the BS side of selling/buying big_smile

I found that using the FREE USPS Priority VHS tape box when shipping pedals works perfect...shipping is always under $5 no matter where it goes and only takes 2-3 days...and the box fits 1 pair of bubble wrapped pedals perfectly!

No offense but I suck at negotiating, so rule of thumb: When dealing with me just assume the price is firm unless I say "OBO".

Great stuff man. Its funny Ive done sooo many different things when shipping stuff from the, putting two priorty boxes together for bars, to "my favorite" turning priority boxes inside out and using them as regular shipping boxes!big_smile

They're getting keen to this however, they are now printing priorty on the insides of the boxes now too on alot of them.sad
