Re: {{TOP DOG BMX}}
where i live it was all about the gt family of the early 90's. gt, robinson, powerlite, auburn and maybe a mongoose and redline in the mix. maybe we dreamed of more but for what most of us could afford that was the coolest. then a little later it was s&m, stardard, kink etc. that was more like late 90's. now all my friends have reverted back to the good old early 90's gt family.
side note.... never knew anyone who had a aluminum bike back then (early 90's) kinda weird

Re: {{TOP DOG BMX}}
Two guys in my neighborhood had Trick Stars...and they were the dudes that were too good to talk to anyone because they had Trick Stars. I remember a couple Diamond Backs...I was the only guy with a Haro. This guy around the corner from me had a Zeronine...I thought that thing was way cool. Yea, a couple GT freestylers as well. Just before I got out of freestyle a couple guys had gotten Bully's. But eveyone knew the Trick Star was the business...but I only think it was that way because they were the most expensive bikes you could buy at the time.

Re: {{TOP DOG BMX}}
back in the day on my block there were a couple mongoose,few huffy's and a schwinn or two.
these two twin bro's had mad paper routes so they were always getting new stuff trying to out-do everybody...they started out on mongoose then kept changing it up every couple weeks...my favorites were when they got their torkers..i'd never picked up a bike so light. ![]()
this little kid named ted that lived on the corner didnt have a bike, so he would always "borrow" mine when i wasnt riding it...i'd let him ride it till i heard car horns honking at him cuz he wouldnt get outta the road then i'd have to repo it. ![]()

Re: {{TOP DOG BMX}}
There was a Huffy, Redline, PFT, Master, Columbia freestyle, Schwin Muscle, Mongoose, Murray. So many more I cant even remember em all. I grew up on a block with about 16 kids all around the same age. We would always trade parts try to make crazy double frame bikes and jumps wherever whenever. Play ditch(tag) on the bikes with walkie talkies and such. I would go to maybe 3 other blocks and play with some of those kids but my block had the most kids with some of the coolest parents around. Thinking about it I was so fortunate to live there for the 5 years that I did while I was growing up.

nope. its your age. mongoose was huge in the mid/late 70s.
DB became big in the early 80s.. they replaced many a motomag ![]()
by the mid 80s, the selection of bikes that was long and exotic.
but back then it was maybe 4 or 5 makes total.
you had goose at the bottom and cooks at the top.
our area had a great selection of different bikes
but mongoose and gt were the most common.
mongoose was the most affordable 'real' bmx bike IMO.
