1993 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

Hi, i´m 39 and owned a Redline RL 20 Prostyler in 86. It tore me appart, when it was stolen 3 months after completing it. In 1993 I decided to come back on the track and bought this bike. Because of alltime very poor brake power I replaced it in 2000 with a Wethepeople daredevil to gain some U-brakes and chrome-rims.  Back to topic:
I´m just restoring my old GT. Not to ride it, but for the fun of it and to save it from it´s sad life in the cellar.
Update:
So, here it is, back on the street. I cleaned it, I fixed it with a new bottombracket and a new headset (using the original beartrap nut). Also I greased every single thread again! I will upload better pictures, when it´s all done. Back in the days I had some 4 inch standard pegs in the back, i gave them to a "friend" and have never seen them again. I have four inchers by GT for the front axle. The ride comes with a KHE freecoaster, if you´re wondering about the rear hub.
I would love to put white tires, white grips and a white chain on the bike, just a plan for the future and a matter of money! I think chrome and white look damn good!
Update Oct. 18. 2011
Put some black Skyway Tuff II´s, white A´ME Tri and white Kenda Tires on, to get back to the 80´s feeling. Hope you like it.

Re: 1993 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

Thanks. I watched yours before. I´m ready with cleaning now and i just put in new cups and bearings for the headset. Further I recognized that the bottombracket is also wrecked. I fixed the crank with a new one. I will finsh the ride over the weekend and will post the pictures as completed! I hope you will enjoy watching them as much as I enjoyed yours and all the others in the museum. I´m glad to be a part of it now!

Re: 1993 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

I remember Jon Taylor (or was it Parker) trying his bodyvarial on this bike again and agian. Or Jay Miron doing Flips over the spine. I took it for a ride an hour ago, but I have to admit, I am not used to those wide bars anymore. This one is not shortened! The kids don´t know, that nearly every trick they are donig today was invented in the 80s to 90s on rides like this one. And mostly every rider just did it all. Flatland, street, ramp...it was called freestyle, yes siirrr... You are right, it is easy. The rides in the early 2000s were heavy as hell, not this ones...

Re: 1993 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

Let me think...you said..."yes, drive cool down" ;-) But I am very pleased to see an american trying to speak german, very nice. And thanks for your nice words. By the way, after all those years of MTV, english music and stuff, the best way to say cool bike is "cool bike". I am not kidding, everyone would understand this, hehe! In german you would say "Schönes Rad" or "Tolles Fahrrad". All the best for you!

Re: 1993 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

I don´t think this guy knows a damn about GT Bikes. Please talk about your bikes in your thread, thanx. Be sure I will not be interested in a splatter paintjob from Taiwan.

Re: 1993 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

It is an old KHE freecoaster, one of the first KHE produced. Very sketchy hub. The axle has a metric thread, which forbids to use the original GT Pegs. Back in the days I used Standard´s first 4 inchers. But I lent them to a "friend" ;-)

Thanx for visiting
