1986 Redline RL-20a

My dream bike BITD...

SOLD!! This was my dream bike BITD. When it came time to start a build from the ground up, I knew it had to be an 86 Redline. Got it about half complete on Ebay. Had it powdercoated California Red, added custom decals, peregrine mags, tires, brakes, etc. It's original to the way it would have rolled off the factory floor in 86 (except for maybe the brakes, tires and grips), and I added the red donuts and dice caps! Thanks, Topher. Appreciate your help early on with the decals!
Still debating on the front pegs - I wont ever use them, so they'd just be an accessory for me. Not sure I can justify the cost.

Good catch, I probably wrote "1985" because I was selling an 85 at the time I submitted the bike! Just corrected...

Took it out for a while yesterday with the kids. Rides awesome, perfect size for me, just feels "right".

I've made a couple of updates. It's not entirely done, but I wanted to show off a little more progress.

What do you guys think of the new front end? I've added that fakelifter stem, newly powdered forklifter race bars, repop redline number plate, ACS pro rotor and weinmann center pull rear brake. I've got new tech 77 levers in chrome and black on the way, new cage-type pedals (that will eventually be chrome with red cages) and a couple of other stickers (red pro rotor sticker, black and red viscount sticker for the back of the seat, etc.). Once the new levers come, I'll get the red brake cables back on.

More progress. The only thing left that I'm considering adding is some red caged pedals and maybe some stickers on the plate. Or maybe I'll sell it as is. The only real blemish on this baby is a couple of scuffs on one side of the forks (pic below).

That came out very nice. Is that a Costco purchased Play structure in the backround? Looks almost like the one I built for my girls.

Nope. I actually built that myself from scratch. Obviously bought the slide and swings, but everything else was all me!
