Yup, 10/88 build date, but 3/4" stays make it an 89 model.  I can't wait to see it done either.

I can't claim credit for finding it.  When I was telling bmxerpete about the project at elemenop's birthday party he said he thought he had a set in his attic, which he generously hooked me up with.  The chrome isn't perfect, but it should polish up pretty well.  I may keep the GT forks as riders, as I kinda like the stance with the extended dropouts, and put the Free Agent forks on for shows.  I'll hold off making that decision till I ride it with both.  I may prefer the way it rides with the tighter rake.

Thanks Kevan.  Bill did a gorgeous job.  I'm really happy with how this build is coming along.  It's turning out way nicer than I originally planned.

It's done until I can find some period correct bars with a wider crossbar (my 09 plate won't fit on the S&M bars).  big_smile

Re: 1989 Free Agent Pro 24

Thanks, Kevan.  More period correct pedals would be nice, but since those are the first part to take a beating when the bike gets laid down, and this DOES get ridden, I decided just to go with something that looks the part at first glance and I won't freak out of the cage gets smashed and scratched.

I had to use a jar opener to put mine on after I cleaned the fork threads...and the headlock was NOS. I guess some of them are just tight

This is a wicked bike.  I can only imagine how it would look with earlier FA script decals...
