1986 Hutch Trick Star

1986 Hutch Trick Star in Futuristic Black with Gold components

This is the actual bike that got stolen from me while I was on tour in New York City in 1986, not my gold bike. This bike was taken from the Hutch ramp trailer in broad day light, around mid afternoon, somewhere near downtown 42nd street as I remember. A couple years later I received a phone call from a kid in New York who told me he knew where my bike was and that he would bring it to me at the AFA Masters event in Patterson New Jersey. I was riding for Diamond Back at that time. Needless to say I brought it home and gave it to a child hood friend of mine, Tom Mesaros. About 4 years ago, I told him I wanted to restore it and display it in my house, so he gave it back to me. Thank you Tom for Keeping it all those years.

Update, today is 8/19/10. After many years of having this bike here at my house, I'm happy to say it's now back together 100% correct down to the custom rear pegs that my buddies dad made for me back in 86. I was lucky to find some photo's posted online from the Hutch tour in 1986 in the Wisconsin area from a show I rode this bike at before we headed to New York. It was a long process, but I'm happy it's now complete.

Congrats on getting that bike back. It's beautiful. I was at that contest too, and it was one of the greatest freestyle weekends I was ever involved with.

Hey Guys, in the first pic it has redline flight cranks. This was pretty much how the bike looked when I took it to Rockford last year. This was when I first put the bike together, since I didn't have any Hutch cranks for it. It has also has ACS mini mountain levers, instead of the ACS potts mod 2 levers. The pedals are a set of my original Hutch pedals with the first generation racing cages, gold plated (they were an extra set for my gold bike). Needless to say I got some Hutch FS cages, some Hutch cranks (thanks to Juan Mattos), and the correct brake levers thanks to Greg Hanna. That is what the next two pictures show. When I got the bike back in New Jersey, the cranks were changed out, the wheels were gone, and the brake levers were also gone. Pretty much everything else was in tact, including the SST layback seatpost, so I was happy about that. I will have to take a couple more pics of it now that it's back to complete. I really like checking out all the different bikes here in the museum, so I figured it was time to take some pics and post some of mine. Thanks and I'm glad you all like it. Woody

Woody - Sweet, sweet bike!!! My all time favorite from your collection. I just love the contrast between the futuristic black and gold. I also love your complete gold and remember being blown away the first time i saw it at a bike show in NY, but this is the one I always drooled over! I saw the pics of your display (hanging from your ceiling) on vintage and I'm glad you were able to get this bike back. BITD, when the Haro team came to the city to tour, DMC and crew also had some of their bikes stolen from their trailer which was in a paid parking lot by Times Sq. We helped them look for them through various neighborhoods to no avail. Those two events were the ones that really hit home for me and brought shame and embarrassment just for being an NYC resident. In the end though, as the call from the kid demonstrates, not all NYers are garbage! BTW, I remember the show you and Martin put on at our local track in North Bergen NJ (Braddock Park - named after the famous boxer) like it was yesterday. It was sick as usual and that was the first time I saw Martin's new sponsored Torker ride. In fact, it had such an effect on me that from that point on, I pretty much lost interest in racing and devoted most of my time to freestyle. Glad to have you as a member of this board!!!

brought it back just drop it and run or did he hand it over and say it wasn't me man . The bike look's Wicked Rad floating up in the air .

I actually have some of the original gold decals from my gold hutch, but I ran white decals on this bike so I want to keep it pretty close to the way it was. I recently got some pics from a kid who had pics of this bike from a show in WI. I saw a couple things I need to change, so I will make the appropriate adjustments and get it back to the way it was. Before i was going from memory.

As for the guy who brought it back to me in NJ, I didn't really care to be honest. I was just glad to have it back. I thought it was gone for good. That was a lucky one for sure.

this is the first bike ive ever fav'd in the museum. i used to have a futuristic black TS back in 85 or 86, wish i still did.... yours looks great!

So, this Trickstar along with the gold 85 Trickstar (Actually just about any Hutch, but the Trickstar being my favorite) and FBM's "Angel of Death" are definitely 3 of my favorite bikes on here. I love the gold and black colors as well.

Does the headtube decal say "Invasion Tour Weapon" on this bike?

I have an 86 that is Futuristic Black and looks to be decaled just like this one.

Just curious, I don't see too many with that decal in the museum.
