How To Post a Pic

I thought I would pass on what I was told and now use.  An easy way to post pictures on the forums pages is to set up an account with photobucket.com (free membership!)

go to;  www.photobucket.com
set up a free account
upload photos from your saved files on your computer
under the newly loaded photo it will have three addresses listed (url, tag, and img)
highlight and copy the img address
paste that address on the forum message you are writing in the message section and thats it!

let me know if you have any questions.

Need more help ?  "Added info by Spartacus"

Go to:  www.photobucket.com
Set up a free account

Upload photos from your saved files on your workstation
http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/yy128/spartacus-css/BMXMUSEUM/bmxmuseum0.jpg

Under the newly loaded photo it will have some codes listed (url, tag, and img)
Highlight and copy the IMG code address

http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/yy128/spartacus-css/BMXMUSEUM/bmxmuseum2.jpg

Paste it in your post and your pic will be online.

ATTENTION: Deleted & moved files in photobucket will cause your direct links to break.

Photobucket has a new feature were if you simply left click on the last code (IMG at the bottom of your pic) and it will automaticlly copies the IMG code

Now all you have to do is left click in the reply box here at BMX Museum smile

Re: How To Post a Pic

Briefly to start off there is a helpful red Search icon at the top of every page(not the Google search). Enter your item to be searched in the "Search Query" section and click the "Search for all terms" bullet under the query. Then go to the "Search Options" section and choose a board from the "Forum" drop down menu. This will limit the results to your search and be the easiest way to find what your looking for..

The purpose of the "Search" is to offer a member the opportunity to research his/her question better. There is so much information from past threads that you may never see because that member is no longer here, or doesn't see your new post, or just won't respond to the same question. So use it to your advantage and enjoy the board! View this funny and informative film about posting and searching…
http://uploads.ungrounded.net/188000/188612_Posting.swf

Also, take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the forum. At the top of every board there are threads that are tagged as "Sticky" These threads are "Sticky" because they contain very important/valuable information  and everyone should read them.

Please take time to check out the referance area , there is a TON of useful info inside there to refer to when needed , also if you feel you have something not posted there or some new info to add , Please do ...

On the Left in the White Log In Box there are several red links , 1 of them reads "Submit a Bike" take a minute and add your bikes to the museum ...

To post pics get a photobucket account..(www.photobucket.com) It's free and easy... Upload photos then copy and paste the bottom code (there are four under each picture, post the one that has "IMG code" next to it) here in one of your posts and then when you submit it your pic will show up

you can make your picture smaller with micrsoft paint, or another free graphics program like the gimp.  open your picture, and find where to reduce size by percent, and change it to 25% (or whatever works for you).  keep the aspect ratio (when you change the height, the width changes too, and vise versa).  then "save as" and rename it, so you can keep the high res orignal just in case.  then upload the smaller file.

let us know if you need help with that

Re: How To Post a Pic

I wanted to add here, to keep it simple and not have to load something into your Photobucket account an alternative is to use Tinypic.com it's owned by by photobucket and doesn't require an acount. More of a one time deal and it doesn't clutter up your Bucket account with stuff you are getting rid of.

You can also change the size before you download from your computer.
When you are on the photobucket site.
Under where it says "Choose Files" you will see "Reduce to: [1024 x 768 (17" screen)]"
Click on the down arrow next to this box (before "more options")
And it will give you more options
I use 640 x 480 (Large) OR 320 x 240 (Medium).
Hope this helps

Wolfgang:  Yes you can!  Heck you can link to pics on eBay or anywhere for that matter, as long as the correct image tags are present, they'll show up.

So what are the correct tags? I've learned that regular HTML doesn't work... and that putting my URL between the IMG tags doesn't work either..... can someone give an example of the code? I've got my pictures on my own site.... seems silly to have to load them onto Photobucket just to show them on here.

What am I missing? smile

Thanks!

Re: How To Post a Pic

Hi - I'm a mentally challenged person. I FINALLY figured out why it wouldn't work.....

punbb doesn't like SPACES in the filename....

Which kinda sucks since my camera automatically puts a space in the filename when I download pictures. Now I have to figure out how to make it not do that wink

And to answer my own post:

(IMG)http://www.blah.com/picture.jpg(/IMG)

(Where the parenthesis are brackets).

Thanks!

Re: How To Post a Pic

Hey,

I haven't been riding in forever and I wanted to know if anyone knew what year my bike is?  I am trying to sell it locally, but need some information about the bike itself.  If ANYONE can help me out it would be much appreciated.  The only thing I know about it is its a DYNO COMPE with all original parts.  Thanks, Justin

No, you're trying to link to your local harddrive. You need to put the picture somewhere on the Internet first (like Photobucket) then link to it.

And just a note: asking for the value of a bike or part is considered bad etiquette. The short answer is: It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If you're worried you might ask too little, then it would be to your benefit to do some research on here, E-bay, etc. and see what others are selling the same model for.
