1979 Mongoose Motomag
1979 Mongoose Motomag
*I* say...
I say it's a... Ratgoose. Why you ask? Because, as much as it's gonna pi$ people off, I deliberately left it unrestored. I used to have an 80 Goose rat-ified back in the day, and I wanted this one the resemble my ole 80 rat so..., it's gonna *stay* this way. Also attached is the way it looked when I got it from Scott

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag
Ok-ok, a couple of questions... should I polish it at least? If so, what should I use? It's nickel BTW...

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag
WOW FOX ya striped that down fast you just showed me that in red 2 or 3 weeks ago Nothing wrong with it lookin like that no one will want to rob it ....maybe ......I won a few weeks back another 81 goose guy says its original blue hard to tell but i really dont see another color under the 50 or so scratches that are all down to the bare metal .It has the non prism decals too with matching pinched Tange forks .......I too am in no rush to REDO it ill most likly build it up with nice shiny parts and leave the frame in its RAT condition ......but its in great shape other the paint an decal .i have allready got a entire old school crank set up .Awsome chrome i think rechromed it gleams Sugino snowflake sproket 175 stamped mongoose 1 piece and blue anno rat trap pedals...with reflectors
ill go STOCK as i can with it no new school on this one .But that paint is dead last to get done .

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag
JJVH, thanks Bro. Blue Magic is da bomb. I've used it before.
79, I have the Tange pinch-drop out forks, but I really don't think they look good on the Rat-Goose. I went with strong Dyno forks instead. The decals I used are NOS 1987 Goose Decades. I think they look tuff on it, so here they stay, lol.

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag
I like it
That's how they all looked back in the day. I think the world record for a mongoose to remain factory original BITD was about 12 seconds - nowadays, the world record for leaving it rat-ified is about 12 seconds ![]()
WANT TO BUY:
A'ME goggles (black) with the black strap and white font on it that says A'ME from the 1980s
"GEAR" RACING PANTS from 80s - size 32"-34"
zeronine gloves "Wrist-Wrap" (black and white)
1982-83 Mongoose helmet wrap-around decal
pm or email
Totally missing the point since 1971.
