1976 FMF Team Replica

My first real BMX bike

This picture was taken at Christmas 1978. I would have to say one of my all time favorite presents. This was the beginning of it all. Started racing the following season. FMF frame, forks, bars. Araya 7b's, Ashtabla neck and cranks. Shimano brakes. Speedo pads and Oakley 1 grips

That's the only close up picture I have. Glad my mom didn't throw away my BMX photos like she did everything else lol

As soon as the frame comes back from the "frame doc". Gathering parts as we speak.

Re: 1976 FMF Team Replica

I've been wanting to join on here...Finally!

I am the original owner of the same except in RED I bought the frame for 100 bucks in 1977 at Bernies Bike Shop in Ocean Beach California I as 16... GOD I'm old!!!

It started out pretty heavy steel rims with 120 gauge spokes and coaster brake... Varsity razor crank (stronger that Ashtibula!) Webco fork Red Oak 1s ...etc.

Back then we could not get fluted seat posts to fit so I filed it down and jammed it in there bad idea!!!

Well it broke and I still have all the pieces still packed away with the original stickers I need the frame doctors help!

I am in the process of restoring it and 120+ other bikes someday.

I used work in a couple of bike shops one being Wheels N Things in El Cajon CA in the fall of 1983 I helped put together some of the 400+ Diamond backs they sold that year I got to meet the King brothers and a few other BMX pros I was already married by then and it was more of a job than a sport for me... I remember Mikey kept breaking the new cranks jumping off the berms at RANCHO if that rings a bell... I talked to Sandy Finkelman the owner about 9 years ago before he passed away about the good ol days...

I have been collecting bikes ever since I get it started it all for me too!

I have some pics of stuff when I get to go through it some day I will put it on here...

Nice bike!

Jamie

Re: 1976 FMF Team Replica

I love this picture, not only b/c it brings back memories but b/c it's one of the most accurate references of the FMF Team Replica bike.  Not someone's interpretation or best effort.  I see you later swithed to a Redline fork, in the later picture. Was there a reason or just for a change?
