Re: 2009 SE Racing Big Ripper 29
Must be nice to have a LBS that is still into BMX. I have to drive about 40 minutes and pass 3 or 4 other bike shops to get to the one that has a few BMX products in stock. They have all the kayaks and tents you could ever want and if you are into roadbikes and MTB's you're hooked up. They do have a few complete Redlines and DB's but nothing too special. They have 1 Redline Proline XL and a DB Reactor that have been there for over a year. This is the same LBS where I got my brand new, never built, frame only, 2003 Redline Proline Team... this year, lol. If you want anything else you have to order it. Oh well, it's something I guess.

You get any more SE's, I might have a rival.![]()
Are you planning any track time on it?

my friend's shop has one still in the box. It is a huge bike and a small shop so he is hesitant to build it.

Shipping was a little pricey, but I doubt I woulda found one locally.
Sweet bikes!
And yes it has more of a BMX feel than MTB.

Re: 2009 SE Racing Big Ripper 29
I rode one last week at a party / fundraiser for our local bike kitchen. Rode great and just so smooth over bumps and stuff. Turning took a bit of getting used to but it did really feel like a BMX and not some chopper or cruiser. Light too.
I was impressed with the price and the parts list for a complete bike... often complete bikes have the odd bit of gear here and there that you want to replace immediately. Not so for the big ripper. Sweet.
Seriously considering a torker/redline midlife crisis project ^_^

Re: 2009 SE Racing Big Ripper 29
One you ride it I'm sure you all will love it , its actually very light and feels very much like a big BMX bike - pdogg hell i wish Skyway would make a 26" wheel so i can put it on my OM cuiser , and a 29er most definately out of the question - but yes it would set off these 29ers .

Re: 2009 SE Racing Big Ripper 29
maybe aerospoke makes a 700c wide wheel???
In the 80's, I was riding the streets with Eric (Hutch), Jamie (GT), Jody (JMC), & Ronnie (Diamond Back). North Hollywood, CA to The Teen Center in Van Nuys, CA. The best LBS was The Pedal Shop, where I bought my first & only JMC frame, forks, & parts for my very first build...

Really dont need wide , actually the same diameter of the Stouts wheels , but i dont know if you would be able to abuse them i thought the Aerospoke was more of an OnRoad wheel . But definatly would look KILLER .

Re: 2009 SE Racing Big Ripper 29
I can't even imagine the flex 29" Tuffs would have. It'd be like riding on a gyroscope.
That being said, the bike handles the track REALLY well. Thanks again for the oportunity to take some laps on it, Maddawg!

Yes I do believe Aerospoke is a OnRoad wheel. They have some nice dual color schemes for the Aerospokes...
What I meant by wide is the width of the rim...I believe the mtb 700c rims are a little wider and 700c road tires are a little more narrow from what I was told from LBS's. I put more abuse on my 700x23c Alex Daze deep v wheels which hold true more than the stout stock wheels. For some reason I can bunny hop and get a little rad on the road rims without them going out of wack...been riding them for over a year now and they are still true...(sucks admin deleted my Felt Curbside w/ 700c wheels for no reason...it's what i use the most and gives me more flashbacks of riding my JMC Andy Patterson than any bike I have currently)...my stout 29'er wheels go out of wack just riding it down to the local market??? Already have serviced them twice.
I've heard of Alex having a wide deep v prototype and that Velocity rims just came out with a wide deep v.
Does anybody know if you can put mtb tires on a road wheels like Aerospokes or deep v single speed rims?
