1978 Team Mongoose
1978 Team Mongoose
This is a very nice 78 Mongoose Team in candy blue. The frame and fork were purchased as is. The forks are chrome but I think it looks cool. Nos Araya 7x rims w/ Suzue hubs, Nos Tuf Neck bars, Nos Dia-compe 890's w/lever, Nos KKT pedals, sealed bottom bracket and used Shimano Dura Ace cranks, Blue Mongoose seat post and clamp! I built this for my son (He loves it!) and it matches my Supergoose. Serial # CB8 64382 T

Love the bike even though its not a replica. What kind of Seude seat is that?? It looks good.
the color combo is perfect, I bet your son turns heads when rides it.

Re: 1978 Team Mongoose
You really did a nice job getting this mongoose back to original. I am just now researching how to restore my old mongoose. It is identical color and my son is getting to the riding age. I wish I could find a place to repaint it. Any ideas? It brings back serious memories. I once rode my mongoose to jr high and some knuckleheads stole the seat my tires, my handlebars. From that point on I rode to school with like 5 chains and took the seat off in my locker. THat is one sought after BMX. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Wow! Great bike!
Can you tell me anything more about the blue paint and decals? Was this frame done by Chip, I noticed you mentioned him. Thanks. ![]()
A "Squonk" is like a Mongoose only much harder to find...

Re: 1978 Team Mongoose
Yes, Chip did the powder coating on two of the bikes. The blue is a blue translucent powder coat over nickel and the 1981 red team is the same. The bikes look amazing in person and the pictures do not show the shine. The decals/stickers can be found on e-bay. Let me know if you need any help.
