1981 Kuwahara KZ-1

KZ-1 Australian Delivered.

I have owned this bike from New and I am currently restoring it to as close to original as possible. It's pretty hard to find some of the bits I need, especially as I'm in Australia. Please keep posted as the build unfolds.
NOS Parts found so far:
* PEDALS: NOS KKT FMX Lightning 9/16" Blue
* SEAT: NOS Blue Kashimax Aero copy seat from the 80's, I have applied the Kashimax decals
* TYRES: NOS Tioga Mitsuboshi Comp III Tyres 20 x 1.5" (Skin Walls)
* GRIPS: NOS AME Tri Grips - Blue
* BRAKE CABLE: NOS Dia-comp brake cable - Blue
* BRAKE PADS: Skyway
* SEAT POST: NOS Renthal lay back seat post - Blue
* CRANKS: NOS Redline Flight Cranks, early dual pinch series
* BAR PADS: Repro Pad set - Black New
* CHAIN: NOS Z-Chain - Blue
Original Parts still fitted:
* FRAME SET: Kuwahara KZ-1
* BRAKES: Dia Compe MX 1000 Rear Brake (Blue)
* LEVER: Dia Compe Tech 3 Lever
* SEAT POST CLAMP: Suntour (Blue)
* HEAD STEM: Suntour (Blue)
* RIMS: Ukai Front rim with Suntour Hub (Re-laced) with S/S Spokes.
* HUBS: Suntour High Flange 36 Hole
My original front Wheel and Hub have been rebuilt with new S/S spokes and the bike is finally a rider, still looking for the rear wheel. Probably won't ride it much as I want to preserve it.  The chrome is all original, I have only lightly polished it. Also, I  bought a set of TTK Pedals & Skyway Tuff II's for when I want to ride it on the street.
Cheers!

Hi ,Thanks for your comments. I'm having a blast researching old school BMX and doing up my bike. I hope you can also enjoy finding an original and restoring it. Look forward to seeing your progress too. Cheers!
