Re: What is your day job/profession?

I'm a certified heavy line Ford transmission mechanic. I've spent 20 years in  this field with 8 years at a semi local Ford dealer. Currently I am at the largest wholesale Standard transmission rebuild center, that is also a piece of TransStar. We supply standard transmissions, transfer cases, differentals and new and used parts for such to trans shops as well as most of your chain auto parts stores.....

All of this sounds high tech and glorious, but don't be fooled. Some days this job can rank right up on the charts with any of the dirtiest jobs. Ever work on a 600 lb tranny covered in cow s$%t, formerly half a$$ed rebuilt by cousin Eddie, driven up the largest hill in north America only filled with one quart of the way wrong fluid? That's half of every Transmission I touch in one day.

I really think this is one of the true keen reasons I love BMX so much. There so clean, simple and give you so much joy back!

I don't do too much during the day...other than drink beers and hang in the garage talking and building bikes and sleds. I also play professionally in a rock band.

Re: What is your day job/profession?

Guess what it is.

I wear 23lbs of clothing and equipment strapped to my body for 8 1/2 hrs a day. I drive a fast car with all kinds of buttons, switches, lights and a mounted laptop. I have access to personal and private information at the touch of a key. I know who is banging who and who is cheating on who. I'm sent to your house because you can't get your little angels out of bed and dressed for school. Then I'm sent to a barking dog where the dog was outside at 0230 hrs this morning but its now 0900 hrs and the dog and it's owner are gone for the rest of the day. Then I attempt to explain to a victim how important is is to keep your vehicles locked at night. Why, because some low life took your prescription meds, camera and gun that were kept stored there. Then the description of the gun is, "it was this big and silver, when can I get my new meds". Hell, I've even taken theft reports from kids who had their bike stolen only to locate it at a pawn shop later. Who pawned it, their dad did for dope.

Oh yes, I've lived the life for almost 20 years. I've been punched, kicked and spit on. I've been thrown through a glass door after fighting a Schizophrenic "consumer" down a flight of stairs. He was seeing devils and mommy called me to help. Got 14 stitches that time. Been bitten a total of nine times by three different dogs, more stitches each time. Been ran from on foot, bikes, motorcycles and cars. Cool on TV, not in real life, people get hurt. Been suspended for voicing my opinion. I've done death notifications and seen little kids living in shit, knowing they will never have the life I give my son. Seen too many dead bodies, some natural, some not. Some intact, some not.  I've got Taylor's bunions on both feet and Degenerative discs in the lower back, both from sitting in that fast car. Throw in some Tinnitus from all the noise in both ears and I'm all set for an enjoyable retirement.

Been called "racist and rude, just like the ---- on TV". Pay, not even going there. Now its manpower shortages, running short all the time.  Days off rotate each week, very few weekends off here. Holidays, just another work day. Everyone always stares wherever we go. I feel like a a zoo animal. Who wants this job and all the stress, grief and heartache. I did 20 years ago and I would do it all over again. I'm oldnky and I like kids bikes tongue

What's huge tho.  I like a good silver dollar. Quarter size nips are gross. But I also think bald puss looks like raw chicken so it freaks me out.

I bet she's got a fat coochie. 2 full size bun tops with a White Castle slider pattie in between. a little bit of lint to garnish
