1985 Skyway StreetBeat

New Build

purchased bare frame and fork assembly from Ebay. Purchased NOS skyway street beat handle bars in the popular green color. Then I brought the frame & fork to a local powercoater and had them match the color of the handle bars. Every part is NOS. I was in the process of restoring my GT Pro Performer that I had as a kid and My nephew who is 8years old got interested in the freestyle bikes and asked if he could have one. I was looking at this web sight and showed him the skyway street beat and he loved it. So I asked him what color he wanted and green it was. I didn't tell him I was going to build him a bike. I purchased all the pieces that I would need and I put all the pieces together in a box that I got at a local bike shop and gave it to him for a christmas presant. I told him that we could assemble the bike at my house. (great story!)

Nice story, nice bike.  Just tell the 8 yr old to be careful on those pedals.  I wont let my son ride on bear traps yet.  I had too many bloody shins back in the day.

Re: 1985 Skyway StreetBeat

Just wanted to say that I am up for adoption..... Kick ass bike bro.... Im just starting to build one for one of my daughters. I asked her too what color she wants, and she wants it chrome like Dads 83' t/a. Good job on the uncle part, and on the bike too.

"I MAY BE SLOW, BUT MY WIFE IS SLOWER!"

I need SKYWAY forks t/a.....
Im making some changes in my life, if I dont get back to you, then your one of the changes.

Re: 1985 Skyway StreetBeat

Thanks guys.

I am working on another bike now for my sisters youngest child. I picked up a very nice 86 Dyno D tour. The bike is pretty much complete but does need some TLC. I have to let everyone know that my sister is raising two boys who are deaf and hard of hearing and she is doing this by her self. So anything I can do to help these two boys and my sister that gives me some real joy. I also have a GT Pro Perfomer that was my personal bike as a kid and I am hoping that my 2 year old boy will want my bike someday but If he doesn't because its pink then thats ok because I will build him one of his choise too. This is a really fun hobby for me it lets me relive my freestyle days and working at the bike shop. Pretty cool and its a win win.

Gordon.
